The private flute and piano lessons I provide are a study in mindful practice - taking the attention of my students and directing it in ways that are productive and engaging, while encouraging each new musician to find motivation in daily practice.
"It is a matter of time, patience, and intelligent work." - Trevor Wye
Trevor Wye's quote is the foundation of my methods. I honestly believes that with the right guidance, anyone can learn to play music well. While many will say, "Practice makes perfect!" I sincerely insist that the old saying isn't true and can be detrimental to learning an instrument, and instead prefer, "Perfect practice, makes perfect!"
That being said, the most important thing is to enjoy yourself, because without the desire and motivation, learning becomes infinitely more difficult. So let's make it EASY!
Another unique aspect of my lessons is that I try to make them as cost-efficient as possible, so that anyone can take lessons. I also like to incorporate technology into my lessons, with recommendations for free apps that act as tuners and metronomes. Each of my students will have access to a virtual lesson folder on Google Drive, which includes all of their current music, recordings of their progress, as well as PDFs of their receipts and additional practice sheets, and online exercises that I created specifically for my students, using musictheory.net.
