Cathy is a wonderful groomer! She took extra time to introduce my 5 month old Goldendoodle puppy to all of the grooming tools and was so gentle and patient during the puppy's first experience. I'm so glad we chose to go with Cathy.

Kathy is wonderful - she went above and beyond my expectations, communicated often about how my dog was doing, and provided loving care, not just pet sitting! We recently relocated and had to go out of town - we were in a new place, and our dog was nervous as it was from the move - he took to Kathy right away. She took care of him for 5 days while we were out of town, and even cleaned up his "nervous" messes. I recommend her very highly. She is very competent, caring, and highly professional.

So far I have used the service twice for short periods of cat sitting. During the both of my absences, the sitter visited each day in the morning as promised, performed the tasks she said she would, and - I assume - spent the promised 30 minutes with the cat. She left me a written summary of each visit on a daily basis. She lives close by, which is also a convenience. I plan to continue to use her service in the future.

Both of my dogs LOVE seeing Emily, and I trust their judgement more than my own. She treats her clients as if they are her own dogs. She really goes above and beyond to try to provide her services even on late notice. I’ve recommended her to several friends, and will continue to do so because she deserves it!

We are so happy that we found Erica for dog walking services through Thumbtack. She was very quick to get back to us and even came over to meet us in person. She is very knowledgeable about animals as she used to be a vet assistance and she is extremely professional. She is very flexible to work with your needs and she is happy to adjust times and visits per your pet needs. Her prices are great too for the quality service you get! We feel very at ease knowing she is taking goof care of our puppy when we are at work.

I was leaving for Italy in three days and my sister who originally agreed to watch my cat baled on me. Needless to say I was in a panic. I contacted Sue and she put me at ease right away. Came by that night to meet my cat and get a layout of my place. She provided references and I provided her with vet info etc. We agreed with her coming by twice a week and her sitting with the cat for about 30 minutes changing the litter etc I felt immediately comfortable and sensed my cat would be in good hands and she was. While in Italy Sue sent me periodic emails letting me know that all was well. I arrived home to a well adjusted cat .She even brought my mail in for me! I would definitely use Sue again!

We have four very demanding dogs whom we are very close to. Travel was always a problem because they would stress terribly upon our departure and remain unhappy. The house and dogs were a mess upon our return. NOT with Brenda of Gentle Hands!!!!!! We come home to Happy kids. You could tell each were paid personal attention and love. The house did not smell of stressed dogs!! They were mad we left but had fun while we were gone. Brenda even drew some of the shyness out of one our kids. She now participates more with the herd. Thank You Brenda!!

I don't just "drag" your dog out of the house and do a quick lap around the house. I love to have fun and go on nice walk. I have always had pets around me and find that they are another "kid" in the house. When I haven't had a dog around me my house feels empty.

    About

I have an inborn love for animals, and I have 25 years of hands-on experience with animals. I am committed to providing your family member with the best care and services they deserve on a daily basis. My services include but are not limited too grooming, house/pet sitting, animal taxi, and pet exercise and nutrition.

    About

I started pet sitting for a neighbor about 10 years ago. She had two beautiful Rottweilers. My love for animals and connecting with them drew me into pet sitting now and then for neighbors and family friends. I've taken care of a handful of dog breeds, a cat, fish and a ball python. Before that, I graduated from an agricultural high school with a background in animal husbandry. It gave me a chance to handle all kinds of animals, from horses, cows and sheep to various reptiles and rodents. I worked at Petco many years ago, and that gave me more knowledge to help customers and help them provide the best animal care for their pets. I've been working in the customer service industry for a long time and haven't been able to exercise what I know or learned about animals. It's time for me to get back to what I love doing and making lasting connections with pets and their parents. I'm reliable, dependable and affordable. I have references from past and present clients.

    About

I'm wicked, friendly, and I love dogs. I'm willing to devote my time towards your lovely K9. I am flexible throughout the week

    About

I do pet sitting for your pets that are like your family. I would treat your pets as if they were my own, including walking, playing, feeding and even bathing if needed. They would be very happy when you got home. My own pets have a loving, nurturing forever home. I would be more than willing to make them feel like you were with them, and I would just ask for what they like to eat and even what they like to do for playing and exercise.

    About

I'm an experienced dog walker and pet sitter with many years of experience and a genuine love for animals. Excellent references are available upon request.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

    • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
    • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
      • 45-minute visit: $28.
      • 60-minute visit: $32.
    • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
    • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
      • 12 hours: $100.
      • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
