We hired Mr. Home Guy to mount our TV on the wall. He was so friendly, right on time, and quick with his work. The TV looks awesome and he even suggested adding a tilt that I wouldn't have thought of! He also offered to put up a mirror that he saw sitting in the corner for no extra cost, which looks great now. All of this for such a reasonable price. I will definitely be using Mr. Home Guy for my next project! THANK YOU!!

Kate came in and with little or no guidance or input from us, transformed our sloppy and cluttered basement into an open and usable area in our cellar. We have several other areas in our house for her to work her magic. Can’t wait to see the results. She’s awesome!

They were awesome! They did a great job. I've never seen the house look so clean. They even clean the walls, steam clean floors. I've never seen anyone do such a though job dusting. Will definitely call again and recommend to everyone I know!

Emily has been taking care of our "baby" Belle for the past few years. There is nothing better than going on vacation and feeling so comfortable that our home and our pets are well taken care of. She takes such good care of Belle, and I think Belle is sad when its us coming through the door and not Emily. She spoils them and the house is as clean as I left it. I highly recommend Emily to everyone and anyone that loves their pets and doesn't want to put them in a kennel while you vacation!

My kitten was sick and I was really worried about him, so I asked Katie to watch him all day while I was at work. She stayed with him and texted me about how he was doing. By the end of the day he felt much better and was running around the house like normal. Katie is super nice and compassionate and sincerely loves animals. I trust her more than anyone to look after my kitty! You will not regret choosing Little Lyons Sitting & Care for your petsitting needs. I will definitely choose her again should the need arise.

I had Jane watch over my house and dog while I was away at New York City for a week. She took very good care my puppy and developed a bond with it. My house was just as I left it as well after returning home. Jane is responsible and always looking for more work.

Lorena did house, yard and pet sitting for me. I have a cat and two guinea pigs. The cat warmed up to her quickly and he was happy to have company while I was gone. Lorena also took great care of all my indoor and outdoor plants including watering my vegetable garden during a very hot summer stretch. I came home to yummie vegetables and happy pets! It is always hard to leave but having a professional and trustworthy sitter really put my mind at ease.

Brenda did great for her first time. She spent extra time with my cat Jessie. My house was very clean...no signs of kitty litter on floors or smells through the house. We plan on having her again in the near future. We were very pleased that she would do the holidays.

    About

I became a pet sitter as a way to make extra money while doing something I love, taking care of animals. In the past, I've gone to homes and watched the pets and houses when the owners were away. I would also be willing to just stop in to take care of the pets if that's what the owners are more comfortable with. I have taken care of almost every average house pet excluding snakes and spiders and I am comfortable handling most animals.

    About

I will treat your pets with love and be very responsible.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is house sitting?

A house sitter watches your house while you are away for work or vacation, or if you have to be away for an extended period. House sitters can also provide pet-sitting services, staying in your home and caring for your pet while you are away. The house sitter can say overnight in your home while you’re gone, or stop by once a day to ensure everything is in order if your pet doesn’t need overnight supervision. Reptiles and most cats are just fine with daily visits and feeding.

House sitting provides major advantages to the homeowner. A regular presence in your house deters break-ins and theft. Home safety issues such as water leaks get noticed and dealt with right away, so you don’t come home to big problems. A house sitter can bring in your mail daily, care for your houseplants, and provide home safety and peace of mind.

How do I find a reliable house sitter?

House sitting can help keep your home safe and well cared for so you can be worry-free while you’re away for work or play. There are several steps you can take to make sure you hire a trustworthy house sitter and do your part to be a responsible host. One of the best ways to ensure a safe home is to hire a professional house sitter. Here are some key points to look for when hiring a house sitter:

    • Reviews and referrals: When searching for a house sitter, always read reviews. Previous experiences will indicate how the house sitter will care for your home while you’re away.
    • Contract: Sign a clearly written contract outlining services to be provided (e.g., mail in each day by 5 p.m.), the daily rate you are paying, and how long the services will be provided. You can also include any agreed-upon house rules in the written contract.
    • Your part: Leave important phone numbers (vet, emergency contact, etc.) and information on where to find emergency items like the circuit breaker and the fire extinguisher, and have a credit card on file with the veterinarian in case of emergencies if the house sitter is watching your pets.
