Having a great time learning the drums and some new music.
Kris has a way of making the material so easy to learn. Whenever I am stuck with a particular area, he breaks it down and we work on all of the parts together. Soon enough, it all comes together! I have learned A LOT since I first started taking drum lessons at The Drummers' Studio. I drive about 40 minutes after a long day of work to my drum lesson, and it is worth it every single time! I really can't say enough great things about The Drummers' Studio, a truly excellent experience that will leave you with great knowledge and skills.
I have been learning drums for the last 2 years here. I have to say I haven't learn any thing this long at a same place. I give this credit to Elliot and to my drums teacher Rick. Rick doesn't just teaches you drums the way he wanted, he will try to understand your level of interest and tries to enhance the passion of learning drums with his experience and techniques. I sometimes get some songs from my home land to learn the native drum beats, he actually teaches me how to play them immediately at my level, which is awesome. Elliot, the owner is very friendly and tries to make sure every student is happy with their learning experience here. I attend the easy songs nights for adult beginners which will help me learn or get the experience of playing along with others. Elliot organizes these song nights with different kinds of songs every month. I have been to shows or listened to the works from the few guitar and drum teachers from page music, they are very talented people.
Sam is our 8 year old son's drum teacher, but he is the best drum teacher I could imagine for any aged learner. He is responsible about scheduling and a good communicator each week. More importantly, I am beyond impressed by the rapport that Sam has with all people, especially in our case, our son. He treats him seriously as a musician in the way he talks to him and when they jam together. There is no condescending attitude about teaching a little kid; Sam makes the most of every lesson and keeps him playing and engaged right up to the minute. Even more, 10 minutes after each lesson, we get a personal itunes email with a practice song or rhythm that is personalized just for our son! Summer scheduling could be a little tricky, but that worked both ways. I only hope that our rave review does not contribute to our losing Sam as a teacher, because he would be very hard to replace.
Seven years ago I took drum lessons with my middle school band director. Basically, I stood in front of the drum set and watched him perform a step. Then I tried the step a couple times while the teacher watched me. This process took about 15 minutes. Then the teacher would tell me that for the rest of the hour I was to learn the step, while he went off to do his other stuff, and that I wasnt to return for another lesson until I mastered the step. I never learned the step (who would with this kind of teaching) and I never returned for another lesson. Seven years later, I had a drum lesson with Jonathan Wollenberger. I was completely blown out of my mind. The lesson began with him showing me how to hold sticks, and him helping me to adjust the heights of the cymbals, chair, and drums. Then he proceeded to try and teach me the same step that I had been taught in middle school. As I tried to get the hang of it, he was extremely attentive, and gave me advice about gripping the sticks, moving my arms and shoulders, how to sit, and more. Above all, his happy charm and patience really made me feel motivated. Jonathan is very knowledgable about drumsticks, drum sets, and teaching materials. Based on our lesson, he was able to recommend me a specific type of stick based on my arm length, strength, and height. He always comes to our lessons well prepared and in a good mood. Apparently, my lesson with him was his first time teaching! I was very surprised, as it seemed like he had been teaching for years. Jonathan is a natural when it comes to teaching, and I would recommend him to anyone looking for drum lessons.
I have taken two piano lessons from Greg to date. He is an excellent teacher who has a great knowledge of the piano. He has an easy manner and patience with beginners, like me. I intend to continue my lessons with him.
Provides half our drum lessons at a fair price. So far scheduling has been flexible. He is very patient and calm with small children.
I've only had a few lessons so far,but they've been great. He does an excellent job creating lessons to fit my interests and it's been fun, while challenging enough to push me and keep me practicing! He knows his stuff and it seems like he'd be able to design a class to suit any interest.
I am a beginner in my mid 30s. I've had 3 lessons for guitar so far with George and have learned a lot. Very knowledgeable (Theory, reading music, tab, etc..), patient, helpful, and teaches well. Shows up on time and is communicative. Excited to continue to learn more! Highly recommend!
I've tried several drum instructors for my son, and Jesse is the best by far. He brought back his motivation. He figures out what the student likes and moves from there. He's easy with programming the dates and provides a really good value for the student. I'll continue to have my child take courses from him and highly recommend him to potential students.
This is Lee and I’ve spent two semesters with Mike to continue with my drum set lesson. Mike is a very easygoing and professional teacher in percussion, and I enjoyed a lot to learn with him. Since I had a intense schedule in my own major, I could not guarantee my practice time length on my own, but Mike still tried to cover as much as possible and thought me a lot in percussion. I would recommend to study with Mike no mater what level you are in percussion. He is patient and accommodating.
Cool drum lessons
Patrick is an amazing music teacher and has endless patience teaching my 8 and 10 year old guitar and drums. He makes the lessons fun, while still ensuring the kids are making progress. He's an absolute pleasure and I would recommend him to anyone!
Ben has a good teaching style that works for me. What the path to accomplishment is and how what we're doing today contributes to that/fits into the big picture.
My 11 year old has been learning from Matt for more than a year now. Matt is a fantastic teacher. He has instilled a love of music and drums in my son. Matt is not only a great drummer, but also knows how to relate to young folk and keep the sessions interesting with humor. My kid loves his jokes and thinks Matt is way cool! Matt can teach both at his studio or at your home. My kid likes to go to his studio, since he has drumsets, guitars and a piano there. Matt will often teach a lesson and then intersperse it with jamming on the guitar and singing, while my kid drums. It is very motivating to see how all the pieces work together. Matt is also flexible, easygoing and friendly. It is difficult to find a teacher who is excellent at what he does AND can keep kids motivated with humor AND is an overall great guy! Matt also teaches adults. I strongly recommend Matt as a teacher for you or your kid!
I am a student myself. I am constantly learning from the very best drum set educators on the planet. I love passing on what I have learned to the next generation of music makers. I love getting beginner drummers excited about the art of modern drum set playing. I offer private 1 on 1 lessons for students who want a specific program tailored to their wants and needs. I also teach group lessons to four students at a time where I choose a lesson topic and guide the group through exercises to help with different aspects of playing the drums.
Drum teaching. Tim has instructed my son Nate (12 years old) for almost 2 years...in that time Nate has made incredible progress......even his school band instructor comments on his improvement. Tim keeps him motivated and is willing to go out of his way to give lessons at our house when we have scheduling conflicts. I couldn't ask for a better teacher for my son.
We offer West African style hand drumming on djembes and dununs. We provide class and individual instruction at all levels. We have imported drums at all price level, as well as we do repairs.
I offer 1 hour of beginner or intermediate drum instruction on a full-size drum kit, learning stick control and rhythm, from basic beats to more complex beats as time goes on. Everything is provided, snack and beverage as well. I have about 14 drums and 15 cymbals all ready for you to start. Left- and right-handed drummers don't matter.
I am a Boston based graduate of Berklee College of Music, with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Performance. I create fun and engaging lessons for all ages that are tailored to your specific personalities and needs! I have worked with a wide range of age levels from 7 year olds to adults in their 40s. The skill levels were anywhere from kids just wanting to try drums out, to students wanting an advanced method and perspective on drums and music. I try to cater to the students specific needs and preferences, and find great rewards in the various styles of teaching from beginner to advanced. I love to incorporate listening and transcribing famous beats or songs, as well as songs the students might want to learn. I use a mix of learning from notation and reading, with hearing things by ear as well, to develop a balanced connection between the limbs and ears. I use drum method books for things like 4-way independence in the limbs, and having good technique and control. I also think improvisation is an essential part of music, and I allow students to be free in expressing their musical ideas within the context of a song or groove. This is the most fun for me! One fun method I use is a Call and Response method, to work on memory and critical listening as well. It all depends on the pace that the student is most comfortable with, and maybe if they only want to learn their favorite pop/rock songs, thats fine as well. I just might try incorporating the methods above in a more suitable way for that specific individual.
