I have been working with Dor as his drum technician for over two years now. His passion, dedication and love to the drum set and to music in general is apparent in every aspect he encounters. Weather it is in his practice routines and methods, his work as a performer or especially as a private drum instructor, he will always take on the most professional attitude, maximizing his musical talent and understanding, and all in the most pleasant and positive manner.

"Josh's approach to drums is so unique, I'm so grateful to have him as my instructor. He makes his lessons cater to my specific goals and is super patient and encouraging. He's so good at breaking down rhythm concepts and techniques in a way I can grasp. I always leave our lessons feeling like I've learned a ton, the hour goes by so quickly... Josh does a great job of helping me learn while keeping me interested and entertained. Josh has helped me learn and improve on the kit more than I could have imagined... I'd recommend him to anyone, beginner to advanced. Boston Drum Lessons is the best!

My 8-year old son had been taking drum lessons at a local music school near our home in Newton, but he wasn't really engaged in or excited by his lessons, and he was frustrated that he wasn't progressing. A friend recommended Justin as an instructor, and in two months, he has progressed significantly. He is enjoying himself and loves to practice what Justin has taught him. I highly recommend Justin Oliver!

I am a beginner in my mid 30s. I've had 3 lessons for guitar so far with George and have learned a lot. Very knowledgeable (Theory, reading music, tab, etc..), patient, helpful, and teaches well. Shows up on time and is communicative. Excited to continue to learn more! Highly recommend!

I've only had a few lessons so far,but they've been great. He does an excellent job creating lessons to fit my interests and it's been fun, while challenging enough to push me and keep me practicing! He knows his stuff and it seems like he'd be able to design a class to suit any interest.

Sam is our 8 year old son's drum teacher, but he is the best drum teacher I could imagine for any aged learner. He is responsible about scheduling and a good communicator each week. More importantly, I am beyond impressed by the rapport that Sam has with all people, especially in our case, our son. He treats him seriously as a musician in the way he talks to him and when they jam together. There is no condescending attitude about teaching a little kid; Sam makes the most of every lesson and keeps him playing and engaged right up to the minute. Even more, 10 minutes after each lesson, we get a personal itunes email with a practice song or rhythm that is personalized just for our son! Summer scheduling could be a little tricky, but that worked both ways. I only hope that our rave review does not contribute to our losing Sam as a teacher, because he would be very hard to replace.

My 11 year old has been learning from Matt for more than a year now. Matt is a fantastic teacher. He has instilled a love of music and drums in my son. Matt is not only a great drummer, but also knows how to relate to young folk and keep the sessions interesting with humor. My kid loves his jokes and thinks Matt is way cool! Matt can teach both at his studio or at your home. My kid likes to go to his studio, since he has drumsets, guitars and a piano there. Matt will often teach a lesson and then intersperse it with jamming on the guitar and singing, while my kid drums. It is very motivating to see how all the pieces work together. Matt is also flexible, easygoing and friendly. It is difficult to find a teacher who is excellent at what he does AND can keep kids motivated with humor AND is an overall great guy! Matt also teaches adults. I strongly recommend Matt as a teacher for you or your kid!

Drum teaching. Tim has instructed my son Nate (12 years old) for almost 2 years...in that time Nate has made incredible progress......even his school band instructor comments on his improvement. Tim keeps him motivated and is willing to go out of his way to give lessons at our house when we have scheduling conflicts. I couldn't ask for a better teacher for my son.

Ben has a good teaching style that works for me. What the path to accomplishment is and how what we're doing today contributes to that/fits into the big picture.

About

I have been playing the drums for over 10 years, including performance and recording experience with professional musicians. I recently played drums on an album that has just been signed to Ropeadope Records Label in New York City. I have studied and played at Jazz Workshops at the New York University Steinhardt School of Music and the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam in the Netherlands. I have also been studying with some of the best drummers of their time, including Billy Hart and Bob Moses. I took classes, ensembles, and lessons at the New England Conservatory pre-college, and received the highest level of the jazz certificate at the program when I graduated. I went on to get accepted into New England Conservatory of Music with scholarship to pursue a Bachelors Degree in Jazz Performance. I have performed at many venues such as the Boston Public Library Courtyard, The Hatch Memorial Shell Boston, Symphony Hall, Wally's Jazz Cafe, Renaissance Boston, Smalls Jazz Club NYC, Woodstock Opera House in Chicago and many more. I am an experienced musician with integrity and determination.

About

I am a Boston based graduate of Berklee College of Music, with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Performance. I create fun and engaging lessons for all ages that are tailored to your specific personalities and needs! I have worked with a wide range of age levels from 7 year olds to adults in their 40’s. The skill levels were anywhere from kids just wanting to try drums out, to students wanting an advanced method and perspective on drums and music. I try to cater to the student’s specific needs and preferences, and find great rewards in the various styles of teaching from beginner to advanced. I love to incorporate listening and transcribing famous beats or songs, as well as songs the students might want to learn. I use a mix of learning from notation and reading, with hearing things by ear as well, to develop a balanced connection between the limbs and ears. I use drum method books for things like 4-way independence in the limbs, and having good technique and control. I also think improvisation is an essential part of music, and I allow students to be free in expressing their musical ideas within the context of a song or groove. This is the most fun for me! One fun method I use is a “Call and Response” method, to work on memory and critical listening as well. It all depends on the pace that the student is most comfortable with, and maybe if they only want to learn their favorite pop/rock songs, that’s fine as well. I just might try incorporating the methods above in a more suitable way for that specific individual.
