I hired Mansour to create a "branding" video and montage for our nonprofit (you can see it at GoPVI.ORG). There were only 3 weeks to shoot interviews (in two states), edit and get sponsor approval of final cut before video premiered at an award presentation before 200 moves and shakers in my industry. From the very first call, Mansour inspired confidence with his professionalism, grasp of what was needed, and sense of humor. He put up with some crazy requests on my part with good grace and excellent guidance. In the end, all was completed in time, within budget, and everyone who has seen the video has remarked on how great it is. I hope to have the opportunity to work with Mansour on future videos. Highly recommended!

I am thankful to Mike for accepting my offer for shooting an event for 5 separate dates. I hired Mike for our 5 days religious/non-american event. He was promt from beginning with his response to any of my questions/ His price was competitive and he was punctual to show up on time before the event for setup and test recording before actual event starts. Before I hired him, I had few emails back and forth to make sure he understand what's my expectation. And he did the job exactly the same way I want. I am 100% satisfied from his work and I'd definitely recommend him for video shooting event. And ofcourse, I will him again for my next event and save some time for search around.

I am a real estate broker and hired Reel Big Media to create an aerial video and still photos of a property located near the Bay. The video and photos came out great and I couldn't be more pleased. They came out very quickly (same day, in fact) and got me the video and photos within a day. Very professional and I would definitely recommend them. I will use them again in the future!

I highly, highly recommend Video by Jamie! I browsed through a lot of videographers online and the videos on Jamie's website stuck out the most to me and I was so happy that he was available for my wedding day. I had never met Jamie in person beforehand but he was very responsive to my emails and based on his past reviews, others had done the same thing and had no issues. Jamie was very professional as he provided a contract (one for him and a copy for me to keep) to confirm all details. Jamie was a pleasure to work with and other than organizing the plan while I was getting ready, which was in a ladies locker room so we had to coordinate with my day of planner, I didn't even notice he was there. Jamie's questionnaire allowed him to get a sense of my wedding style as well as he confirmed those details over the phone and answered any questions that I had. I am extremely happy with my final video and even the teaser video, that I recommend him to anyone wanting to have a videographer. I chose the cinematic style for my video which blended the entire day into a seamless video that captured everything from my wedding day. I think a video is more special than photos because of the emotions and movements that you get to relive of your wedding day as you watch it. The final product was worth well more than what I payed for and therefore he is extremely reasonable as far as cost goes. Thank you so much Jamie!!

Well, when I started the search for a photographer and video footage for my daughter's wedding, I quickly discovered this was an absolutely overwhelming task in comparing the packages, pricing, extra charges, etc. When I found Dante, I knew I hit the jack pot! Exactly what we wanted!! His videos and photos were extraordinary compared to others photographers - they expressed EXACTLY what we desired. Dante is an extreme professional, very attentive of what we wanted, GREAT pricing packages, and so genuinely interested in what we wanted to remember on this day. He captured all the aspects of the wedding in a very personal and classy way. Dante was with us every step of the wedding. If you need a photographer for any occasion, Dante will do a phenomenal job for you with great pricing!! Maureen and family

Bill, and his team at Powerful Productions started working for me about three years ago, handling motion graphic video presentations on my behalf while working at National Grid. Since then, he has created two websites and corresponding content, from logos to animated openers for internal corporate communication. Now, in the private sector; I contracted four camera personnel to capture video and photos at my sons wedding, and have referred him to two contacts. Bill is a down to earth business man, that gives great creative as well as business strategy and guidence. I would refer Powerful Productions to anyone who is looking for a high grade producer for all things visual and audio; Bill knows his craft and is not your run of the mill "freelancer"..he gets the job done with taste and tact. We thought that Jim Nogueria was a great wedding videographer! We found out about Jim's videography services through this website, Thumbtack. We were very satisfied with the overall quality of our wedding movie. We thought that the video captured all of the high points of our wedding, which included the key parts of the ceremony and reception. Although Jim was filming for 8-9 hours, the final edited wedding video was around 1.5 hours and included DVD chapters so we could navigate with ease to a certain part of the wedding movie. I had thought that Jim would have filmed the ceremony in its entirety, but he didn't include some of the standard Sunday mass aspects, like setting of the table, communion, etc. or the entire duration of the receiving line at the end of the ceremony. This was not a problem for us, but you just want to make sure the expectations are set and that you are both on the same page to avoid any disappointments at the end. Prior to hiring Jim as our wedding videographer, we liked how he was very responsive to the emails I sent him with my questions and how thorough he was with explaining the entire process. We actually never met face to face with Jim prior to the wedding, but felt that phone calls and emails were sufficient. We also liked how Jim, at the time of booking him which was almost 1.5 years ago, was one of the very few videographers in our area that was offering filming in 4K, which is the current and highest standard for video resolution. Jim always made sure that I was happy and completely satisfied with his services, including after he provided the finished product. In addition to the wedding video which he provided in the Blu-Ray disc format, at my request, he also provided me with the final wedding video/trailer video files, as well as all of the raw video footage which was not in the final wedding file. He sent me an external hard drive which I then I copied the files to my computer for backup purposes. Overall, we were very happy that we decided to hire a wedding videographer because the wedding video will be something that we will cherish forever.

Working with Shayna was the one of the top decisions of our wedding this past July! She worked with us and our unique visions to create the best video we could have ever expected. We went a little non-traditional and wanted to do a storytelling method with our wedding. This was a new experience for Shayna and us, but it honestly could not have gone smoother! The video had a beautiful balance of our ceremony, time with friends/family, getting ready, and friends/family interviews (the unique part of our video). If you are looking for someone who will give you top level video, professionalism, and sincerity, it is 100% Shayna!

Ed was wonderful! My husband and I could not be happier with our choice for a videographer. He is dedicated to creating truly unique videos that capture the joy of your event. With Ed, you don't just get a wedding video - you get a full documentary of the event from start to finish. After our first meeting with him, it was clear to us that he has a passion for this. and as a result treats each client and their video with care and gives it his full attention. He went above and beyond capturing footage of our wedding - from the rehearsal, to us girls getting ready, and even an interview with my husband and I after all the events of the day finished. His prices are very competitive and he provides better video coverage than all of the other videographers that I interviewed. Ed is an absolute pleasure to work with and we simply cannot say enough good things about him. Please feel free to contact me with any questions on my experience with Videonamic. I am more than happy to be a reference. Carolyn August 16, 2017

Not enough good things can be said about Eli. Through every step of our big day, he was always there firstly: doing his job with an astounding amount of diligence, passion, focus, and excellence and secondly: assisting us with things during down time in the days previous that were beyond the job that he was there for. One scenario specifically that I remember was the night before the wedding. Eli and his lovely wife Savannah who happened to be our florist, were up till, from my knowing, past three in the morning working tirelessly helping set up the reception area. I went to bed and when I had woken up in the morning Eli and Savannah were some of the first people that I saw up working to make our wedding the best, and least stressful day for my wife and I and it truly was. I was convinced that there was no length that Eli and Savannah would not go to make sure that our wedding was flawless. While we were taking pictures Eli maintained an attitude of professionalism and also of fun and relaxation. He was always thinking one step ahead which made him very perceptible and able to foresee important events that even my wife and I did not think to deem important. Eli’s ability to create an atmosphere of joy and fun helped out with some of my family members who I know are generally camera shy come out of their shyness. At one point, I had these same camera shy family members and friends asking me when it would be their turn to pose in pictures for Eli. In every way Eli had exceeded my every expectation. Once we got our breathtaking photos back we were blown away by the ease in which billing, access to the photos, and follow up were handled. Overall, I would recommend Eli Defaria Photography to any friend, family member, or other wise. If you're looking for the best quality photography, the best quality service, and if your lucky, the best quality friend, it would be your biggest mistake to pass up an opportunity to work with Eli.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
