Thompson Tree Climbers was recently recommended to us as someone who could handle cutting down the backyard 50 foot pine tree that was 10 feet from our home and also close to our neighbor's house. The limbs seemed to be getting brittle (about a 30 year old tree) and the harsher storms were knocking branches down so the tree was a safety concern for us. We contacted Arthur this Monday, he came out to look at the tree last night, we agreed on a price (very reasonable compared to the many others that we've been quoted), and signed a contract. Payment was expected to be split with half up front when they arrived to do the job and the rest when they were finished the work to our satisfaction (even though the process was definitely only going to be a single day). They arrived this morning and stopped only long enough to eat lunch and haul a load of the tree away (which coincided with their break). Thompson were very careful while cutting the tree down. They even did it in such a way that the power line running from our house to a pole (about 30 feet from the tree) did not need to be moved (limbs first and the trunk in pieces). Thompson hauled away the larger debris and most of the small limbs (all that is left will be easy for us to rake up since we need to do that anyway because of the pine straw). They even flattened out the stump for us so that we could use it for something in the future (yes, they do stump removal but we wanted it left in the yard). Overall, we had a great experience with them and if we ever need anything else done, we won't hesitate to employ their services again.
Thompson Tree Climbers was contracted to Cut down a 7-foot tree, trim some branches, and remove remodeling debris from our yard. Initially they were contacted to provide these services through living social, but they failed to honor the advertised special. Since they were there, I asked them to proceed with the work and I would pay them full price. They performed the tree work and only some debris removal from the pile. They stated that they would come back the next day to finish removing the rest of the debris. Some miscellaneous debris was left in the pile for the next day including an appliance, a tire, scrap wood, and plastic sheeting. I could not come out the next day so I paid them the full balance prior to the last load being taken away. They never returned to complete the clean up. I attempted to contact them every two days, but have not gotten anyone to answer or reply (except once). They answered the phone once and said that they would pick up the items the next day. It never occurred and they have not answered since or responded to my calls. Yesterday, I finally paid someone else to remove the rest of the debris for $100.00 since it was obvious they were not going to finish or talk to me. While their website and business cards say they take credit cards, I was told that they could not accept them because he is having technical troubles in accessing his PayPal.
Had appointment for June 23 @ 9AM for mowing, edging, hedge trimming and blowing for up to half an acre. At 9:15 AM he had not arrived so I called. No answer, so I left a message. At 9:30 AM had not heard from Thompson, so I called again. Spoke to him & he told me he was running late but would be at my house in 30 to 45 min. I called again at 12:30 & got answer machine so I left message stating that I had waited 31/2 hrs & he was not here, had not called & that he was being very rude. It is now 4:30 I have not heard or seen from him. If this is the way he runs his business I want no part of it and would never refer him to anyone. Have no idea what kind of service he renders but who wants to have someone rendering a service for them when he is not considerate of the customer and definitely no reliable.
