Introduction: As a mother to four crazy kids, I understand how our abundance of “stuff” can be overwhelming and almost paralyzing at times. We live in a culture where more is better and living simply is a challenge. Being organized is a lifestyle. It is an ongoing process. When one area is done, it’s time to tackle another. My goal is to help others develop and easily maintain a lifestyle of organization. Simplify. Organize. Share., that’s the motto of S.O.S. Organizing. I can help you simplify by identifying unnecessary “stuff”, organize what you keep, and share what you decide to get rid of. Why share? It’s always easier to get rid of things if you know that they are going to a worthy cause. I’ve developed a whole list of places that accept donations and can put them to good use. There is no extra charge for Goodwill, Recycle or trash drop offs. Typically, some investment is required for proper shelving and storage containers. However, if budget is tight, I am very resourceful when it comes to creative ways to utilize what you have, available recyclable containers or even finding treasures at thrift stores. Natalie is amazing. She helped my husband organize his entire business and personal life going back 20 years! He’s in insurance so you can imagine the avalanche if paper. She set up files, set up an in and out system for him and saved us hundreds in marital counseling! Just kidding. Seriously you need her even if you think you’re organized. I thought I was but her skills are at an entirely different level.

Natalie was a pleasure to work with while organizing my little house built in 1920. The house had storage in some rooms and none in others. Natalie helped me create storage and best utilized what I had. She also has the ”decorator's eye” which I am seriously lacking. She suggested decorative tweaks here and there that were perfect. If you find yourself with stuff you need to keep but have no idea how or where to do it, give Natalie a call. I HIGHLY recommend her.

“Using SOS Organizing was a life-changing experience, and I mean that sincerely. I felt it was a truly collaborative process that has created not only a more organized and beautiful room but a more productive workspace. Natalie Burt sought to organize the space so that it was more efficient and more functional. As a high school Art teacher, I find my days spent sorting, organizing, and picking up after students. However, I realized through Natalie’s guidance and expertise that I could make the space more functional through proper organization. At the beginning of the experience during the consultation, she asked questions and developed a full understanding of how the space needed to function. She did not just come in and sort, file, or put away – which I have done for years; she thoughtfully rearranged and made a space for all the supplies in an area that worked with the purpose of the item. Her discerning eye and systematic approach took organization to a different level. Working on a budget required her to get inventive with container storage.   • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    Most clients start with an 8-hour package, costing $320. Hourly rate is $45. Purchasing the 8-hour package saves you $40.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

    I like to meet my clients personally for a free home consultation. This gives us an opportunity to discuss their needs and to make sure my services are the best fit for their project. Each client's situation is unique and I do my best to customize my services to each individual. I have worked with a variety of clients including those with ADHD, Bipolar disorder, Parkinson's, depression, anxiety, single moms, single dads, moving into a new house, downsizing or just simply overwhelmed by day to day operations. I take the time needed to really listen to my clients and create a system that will be easy to maintain. I am never forceful with my suggestions and can offer multiple solutions that the client can choose from.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    I have a Bachelor of Arts in Theology and Mental Health and Human Services. I have found that getting and staying organized is more than cute baskets and proper shelves. While proper storage is essential, there's usually a psychological or emotional hurdle as well. My degree was foundational in understanding our challenges, but life experience and working with a variety of clients has taught me more than any class. I love to read self-help books in addition to any book on organizing. My favorite authors are Jennifer Ford Berry (Organize Now!) and Joshua Becker (Becoming Minimalist). I am also a proud member of Carolina Organizers. We have monthly meetings for training, networking, education and support.
