FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I try to keep pricing simple. $40/hour for timed work is great value and allows me to focus time on the individual clients needs. There are some things that can be done quickly and remotely, which means faster availability, so time can be accrued. Any hardware or software purchases will only be charged at cost. Regular maintenance or scheduled visits may be arranged if appropriate to your needs. Most importantly, I believe it's important to keep everything open. No hidden costs or surprises!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Always! Because technological changes never stop, I have to keep abreast of everything that's going on. That means keeping an eye on all aspects of the industry, as well as those related areas, which have influences on developments in my own field. Of course it's a very broad field and nobody can maintain the same level of expertise in all aspects, so you have to specialize to so extent. So my focus is on Windows, tablets, networking and associated peripherals.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
It was the natural thing to do from an early age - fixing things was always my passion. I was fortunate to be starting out in the field while huge advances were being made so it was exciting and creative and learning, all at once. Over the years, I worked in various aspects of It, including running multi-million dollar projects, for blue-chip companies, but even then, it was the hands-on aspects that thrilled me most. So, when the opportunity arose, I decided to do what I do best. I don't think there's a better philosophy for enjoying work that doing what you're good at.
