When I placed my project request on Thumbtack, J. Simone Landscaping was the first to respond and Jon came out personally to go over the project with me and give me an estimate. He worked within my budget to come up with the solution that best suited my needs. We agreed on a price and scheduled the work. On the day of the job, Jon and his crew showed up early and went right to work. They did a great job and cleaned up after the job. They did exactly what the said they were going to do and went above and beyond to make sure that I was happy with the job that they had performed. One of the most professional contractors that I have worked with on Thumbtack so far and I have utilized Thumbtack for a lot of projects around my house. I highly recommend J. Simone Landscaping for any of your landscaping needs. They are not a fly-by-night business, so they are not going to be the cheapest quote that you will receive, but they will get the job done right the first time! I have tried cheaper solutions in the past and it always ended up costing me more in the long run. Trust Jon and his team to get your job done and you'll end up saving money down the road!!! Thanks Jon!!!

We needed several gutters re-hung to drain appropriately. Mr Garner was quick to respond and set up a quote. He fixed the gutters and found additional problems. He had to work longer than budgeted to fix the issues completely. Despite this, he stuck with the original estimate. To date, with several big spring rains, the gutters work perfectly and they still shine! Thanks! We will definitely use his services in the future.

They reflashed two chimneys that another company completely screwed up. After removing flashing, there was other unanticipated damage to roof that the other contractor covered up. Well Done repaired all damage and reflashed chimneys, working past dark for NO additional cost. Would definitely recommend this contractor.

I have been trying to think of the best words to use regarding this company. First, let me say that I have terminal Cancer which does not allow the most appropriate words to flow as they once did before. I am 47 years old. For the most part of my adult life I've come to realize that it is a rarity to still be able to find a company that continues to provide such individual attention such as this business. These two men have shown me compassion, kindness, and a work ethic that is rarely still seen in today's environment. They have never been too busy for any of my questions or issues. I must say that I have a concern that a group of few Southerners will not embrace people that are from outside the tri-state area, thus not giving people from all across America a chance to prove their success. I emplore you to overlook the simplistic attitude of only doing business with the people from the South and see for yourself the astonishing work that these men are capable of doing. Without knowing, I made the job harder for them as I originally stated. I had already been given a quote for light tile and light grout. I ending up changing the work order to black tile with black grout within a solid white bathroom. The black grout was impossible to keep from not getting everywhere. While it turned out beautiful, the black grout made a huge mess against that all white bathroom. The clean up was immense. Never once did they complain. They were also very cordial to my mother and all the other visitors I had that day. It's just those small details that makes a company stand above the rest. I did have a problem that night that the tile was installed. However, the problem was not with the installation. The problem was due to my 30 year old commode. It was something that if I was given the instructions over the phone, I possibly could have taken care of the problem. In no fashion or manner were they going to let that happen. The issue occurred on their watch and they were going to make it right. They said that they would be at my house the first thing in the morning; and they were. I live in Belton, SC. The company is located in Greenville, SC. So, there was some traveling involved. They repaired the minor problem, that again arose from my commode. No other charge was incurred. I must thank them for helping me. I plan on using them for most all of the projects that I have in my mind that I would like to complete before my life ends. This company, with these two wonderful men, will play a huge part in helping me complete as many goals in my home as possible. Thank you Integrity Solutions. I see a long future in doing business with you. Sincerely, Kristy M. Cheek Kristy Cheek

Justin just completed painting my kitchen cabinets. My kitchen has been transformed from builder blah to fabulous. What a pleasure it has been working with such a professional and ethical contractor. Justin is an excellent communicator. He always let me know when he would be arriving, and what he planned to do the following day. It was a great experience working with Justin. I will definitely call him for other projects.

We are looking for a contractor specifically to install a cable style steel railing system for our existing deck. Terry at W.C. Builders told us that he only does the preparation (demo and cleanup of old railing) and sub contracts the installation of this type of railing to American Cable Rail . He was very helpful and gave us the the name and contact phone #. We are now working with American Cable Rail. We are very grateful to Terry from W.C. Builders for his professionalism and his help.

Scott's Drywall service was great! We arranged the quote and appointment via the Thumbtack messenger facility. Scott communicated the day before and arrived on time. His work was exemplary; very meticulous. After the sanding, the repaired walls were fully paint ready. The damaged sections looked like new. There was even another minor unplanned fix needed for a baseboard replacement. Although he didn't have a mitre saw with him, he used a standard skill saw to make 45° cuts. That's very tough to do accurately this way and the results were seamless. He and his assistant handled this while the mud was drying. Both jobs were reasonably priced. I'd gladly call him back for more work in a heartbeat.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much will it cost to fix a hole in the wall?

If you have a hole in your wall, don’t despair; drywall repair professionals can patch the hole and repaint the surface and no one will be the wiser. The cost to repair a drywall hole depends on the size of the surface area of the damage, the materials and labor required, and (for a minor repair) any minimum service fee the repair company may charge. The actual labor and drywall prices may be lower than the minimum service fee, but pros must ensure their business overhead costs are met when they go out on minor jobs. To help keep costs low once the pros get there, make sure you have the right paint on hand if you want them to do to a touch up after the repair is complete, so you don’t keep them wait (and charging you for their time) while you search in the garage. Here are two examples of average prices for smaller drywall repair jobs:

    • Approximate cost to repair a 5-foot crack in a wall: $125 (labor $75 and materials $50).
    • Approximate cost to repair a 3-foot ceiling crack: $150.

What is the difference between sheetrock and drywall?

People sometimes use the terms “sheetrock” and “drywall” interchangeably, but they are not exactly the same. Drywall is the industry term for prefabricated sheets of wall, while Sheetrock is the brand name of a type of drywall. Depending on what room is being built, your drywall installation pro will select different thicknesses or grades of drywall. Standard residential drywall is ½-inch thick. Garage walls adjacent to a living space are typically ⅝-inch thick and serve as a firewall. For a garage ceiling, most contractors will use firewall-grade drywall materials to keep your home as safe as possible.

Different types of drywall can be color-coded to indicate their purpose. Purple or green drywall boards are often mold-resistant (MR) and are applied where moisture tends to accumulate, such as in bathrooms and basements or behind tile backsplashes at sinks. These mold-resistant sheets have a fiberglass instead of a paper facing finish to prevent water absorption. Regular drywall is gray or white. The drywall industry is constantly adapting with technology to provide safer and more targeted materials. You can even install soundproofing drywall to help prevent noise transfer through rooms.

How much does it cost to put up drywall?

The national average cost to hire a drywall installation professional ranges $375-$1,500, depending on the job at hand and where you are in the country. Your drywall installation cost will often be lower if the professional is installing the drywall in a new construction with open access as opposed to a remodel. The square footage of the job, the amount of materials, and the labor required also determine drywall prices. According to drywall pros, materials costs can range from 15 percent to 50 percent of your total project cost, depending on the work you’re having done. Request several quotes from drywall installation companies to find the right fit for your construction project. The quotes may be based on the company’s standard cost per square foot or a calculation of the time estimated to complete the job plus the size of the job plus materials and any travel fees. For example, drywall installation for one or two standard-size rooms could cost $900-$1,500. The cost to hang and tape an outbuilding with approximately 40 drywall sheets at 75 cents per square foot could total $1,450, including 3.75 days of labor for the drywall crew.

How much does it cost to repair drywall?

The national average price range to repair drywall is $210-$300. Drywall prices can vary greatly depending on the size of the hole or crack that needs repair, the amount of materials required, and other factors. Cracks can appear at the seams in your drywall due to uncontrollable factors like your house settling or even minor earthquakes. Drywall, although sturdy, will break with enough impact, so if a dresser falls and crashes into a wall or your have a mishap hammering in nails for artwork, you could need drywall repair. Drywall repair professionals may have a minimum service fee of $100-$150 regardless of the size of the job. This ensures that their business expenses are met anytime they send their crew out to a job. Here are some additional examples of average drywall repair prices:

    • Sand and texture five wall patches: $200 (45 minutes of labor and $40 of materials).
    • Repair a 4x8 section of wall: $225 (labor $150 and materials $75).
    • Replace drywall in an entire bedroom: $1,500 (price varies depending on the number of windows, whether there’s metal trim, etc.).
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
