Board and train at a facility
We learned so much from Richard just from our initial consultation and cannot wait to see what improvements we are able to make with our pup. Richard took the time to thoroughly assess our current situation and understand what our goals are. We appreciate his approach to training and feel it will be successful for us. We look forward to continuing to work with Richard and highly recommend his services to others who need one-on-one training tailored to you and your dog's needs.Dec 30, 2019Verified
Richard was very helpful. He was able to pinpoint some of our pup’s underlying issues within the first hour. He gave us a lot of helpful tips that we will implement into our training going forward. Richard also went out of his way to go with us to a dog park so he could see how our pup interacted with other dogs. Highly recommend.Nov 3, 2019Verified
They were very professional but yet made you feel comfortable. They answered all of our questions. We will definitely keep working with them. We highly recommend them for any kind of dog training needs.Dec 4, 2019Verified
Richard has a great gift to guide and teach dogs. I have taken my German Shepherd to him and within 20 minutes my dog was responding to his direction. He has extensive knowledge and I continue to observe the refinement of my dog's behavior. The techniques that Richard uses allows my dog to learn the behavior that is required of him in a structured environment. I am thankful to have found the exact trainer that I have been looking for for 3 months. I give him 5 stars because he is trustworthy and and has extensive experience.Feb 18, 2020Verified
Richard was amazing. We had used other trainers in the past for our dog. Richard is the difference between a trainer that does this as a hobby and a "True Professional". He was honest and set reasonable expectations for the training. During the consultation, he spent a lot of one on one time with us. He was great with our kids and got them involved as well. When he worked with our dog we saw immediate results, he explained why he would do certain things with the dag and why the dog was reacting a certain way. Within 30 mins our dog was leash walkable and reacting better to us. We were at a point where we might have needed to re-home our dog and that would have been difficult for us as a family to do. Richard was (unfortunately) our last resort, he should have been our first choice, our dog is doing 100x's better and working with us. We are so happy.Dec 26, 2019Verified
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Customers should know that I am always honest with my clients. I do my best to foster realistic expectations and form a bond with not only your dog but you as well. The dog/dog trainer/client relationship is a relationship of trust. The client is trusting me with something that is very precious to them and they need to know that I love and care for their dogs as much as they do.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?It all started as a hobby for me. I love dogs and learned to train my own dogs at an early age. I grew up on a farm and my grandfather trained hunting dogs so I was exposed to it as a child. My first formal training experience was with horses and I quickly learned that the psychology is very similar. My professional dog training career began accidentally as family and friends would ask me to work with their dogs whenever they had an issue. Recognizing the need for some formal training of my own, I contacted Martin Deeley of the International School for Dog Trainers, where I met Martin and one of his proteges, James Hamm. Martin and James helped to transform me from a person whom was good with dogs, into a bonafide dog trainer.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?I recently had the opportunity to train a service dog for a very special little girl. The details I will not divulge out of respect for my clients and their families but it was an awesome experience. I also have had the opportunity to work with veterans and PTSD dogs and that is something that is very special to me.
