Dog Training
We sent our two dogs for board and train because they were becoming a bit much for us to handle and needed help getting them under control. We have a 5 year old dog and a 1 year old dog so we had different expectations with their training but have been very pleased with both of their progress. We noticed immediate changes once they came home and have done our best to keep their training intact. Richard has also met up with us after we got them back to address some of the bigger issues we were having with them after training which has helped us feel much more confident in how we handle them. Since we have larger/active dogs this is very important to us and having the tools to properly handle them has made a world of a difference. I also love how we can now Board them here as I never truly trust anyone to properly take care of the pups. Now when we go on trips I can truly relax and feel confident that they are enjoying themselves and are well taken care of which has eased my worries a ton.

Dog Training
I sent my 2 dogs to boot camp because they were out of control and did not get along at all. They are a couple of days from coming home and they now play together and have calmed down considerably. I would highly recommend this trainer.

Dog Training
My dog has been having anxiety agression. Richard has really helped me feel confident in handling this issue with a clear training plan. I could see results in the two hours he worked with him. I feel relief and that I have someone to help me with any issues going forward.

Dog Training
Richard has a great gift to guide and teach dogs. I have taken my German Shepherd to him and within 20 minutes my dog was responding to his direction. He has extensive knowledge and I continue to observe the refinement of my dog's behavior. The techniques that Richard uses allows my dog to learn the behavior that is required of him in a structured environment. I am thankful to have found the exact trainer that I have been looking for for 3 months. I give him 5 stars because he is trustworthy and and has extensive experience.

Dog Training
We learned so much from Richard just from our initial consultation and cannot wait to see what improvements we are able to make with our pup. Richard took the time to thoroughly assess our current situation and understand what our goals are. We appreciate his approach to training and feel it will be successful for us. We look forward to continuing to work with Richard and highly recommend his services to others who need one-on-one training tailored to you and your dog's needs.

FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Customers should know that I am always honest with my clients. I do my best to foster realistic expectations and form a bond with not only your dog but you as well. The dog/dog trainer/client relationship is a relationship of trust. The client is trusting me with something that is very precious to them and they need to know that I love and care for their dogs as much as they do.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?It all started as a hobby for me. I love dogs and learned to train my own dogs at an early age. I grew up on a farm and my grandfather trained hunting dogs so I was exposed to it as a child. My first formal training experience was with horses and I quickly learned that the psychology is very similar. My professional dog training career began accidentally as family and friends would ask me to work with their dogs whenever they had an issue. Recognizing the need for some formal training of my own, I contacted Martin Deeley of the International School for Dog Trainers, where I met Martin and one of his proteges, James Hamm. Martin and James helped to transform me from a person whom was good with dogs, into a bonafide dog trainer.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?I recently had the opportunity to train a service dog for a very special little girl. The details I will not divulge out of respect for my clients and their families but it was an awesome experience. I also have had the opportunity to work with veterans and PTSD dogs and that is something that is very special to me.
