Katie was great to work with. She was very patient and took some time to get to know us before the actual photo shoot started. And she sent us a sneak peek photo later that same day. I can't wait to see the rest!Apr 25, 2016Verified
Katie was a joy to work with. My kids both loved her. She accommodated our location request - being from Houston, we wanted a unique place, with autumn scenery that we do not see at home. The photo album was generous, and she has a great eye. Our Christmas card came out amazing. THANK YOU Katie, for making our trip to SC so memorable!Dec 30, 2015Verified
An absolute pleasure to work with you! Had a great time, can't wait to see the photos!!Jul 10, 2015Verified
Katie was the perfect choice! She took my daughter's Senior photos and was super flexible, fun to work with and very creative. Her laid-back demeanor and up-beat personality made the photo shoot enjoyable for my daughter (and me!). She is a true professional that I would recommend to anyone looking for a photographer. Thanks, Katie, for your work - not only on location taking the photos but afterwards as well with your amazing editing and retouching. We LOVE the photos!Apr 27, 2015Verified
I can't describe how uncomfortable it is to have to leave a review like this for someone I know is very talented, but it unfortunately the unprofessional experience that my family and I had 1day before the most important family pictures we'd ever have. Sarah Katie Mccranie and I had a great deal of back and forth by Thumbtack messaging for a few months regarding my parents 50th wedding anniversary. She was very responsive, patient with all of our questions and her pictures were beautiful. She was understanding that it took a long time for me to finally call her on the phone due to my exhausting schedule. We finally spoke for a long time on the phone just under 2 weeks before, and though she was pleasant enough, I got a bad vibe from her super laid back style of speaking. We left it that I would text her the address and she would get back to me on ideas for shoot location. I texted her the address and I explained we weren't from the area, knew nothing and though waterfalls would be nice they weren't necessary. I asked about payment before or on day of the shoot. She said either before or day of. I wasn't about to do before, especially with my bad feeling about her. 10 DAYS went by and I heard NOTHING. We arrived on Sunday and the shoot was Tuesday. I texted her Sunday night around 10 to tell her we were a little concerned we hadn't heard anything. Monday morning, texted her again. FINALLY Monday afternoon at 2:30 I get a text. "Yesterday was Father's Day... I was with my family and children". 8 minutes later: "Yes tomorrow is confirmed.. And I am usually paid on the day of the shoot. As far as waterfall locations near your cabin... Most are an hour away". I should also mention this was the day before the shoot and she found NOTHING for us!!! I specifically told her it didn't have to be waterfalls and WE WEREN'T FROM THE AREA . We quickly told Katie we found someone else, and truthfully she didn't seem to care. Luckily we scrambled and found another photographer couple, Joe and Jenny who were FANTASTIC, professional, pictures stunning. It was meant to be!!! They fit us into their extremely busy schedule and made us feel so relaxed, special and taken care of. Moral of the story...always trust your instincts!!!Jun 25, 2016Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Standard family portraits are $150 and ALWAYS 1/2 off for 1st responders! I always offer virtually unlimited pictures....all other photographers have set limits...Not me!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Yes! I learn something new every day; if any of my clients want to teach me or show me something...I'm willing to learn! I recently enrolled in Harvard's photography classes. They have great instructions, lesson plans and it makes me go outside and complete quizzes!
- How did you get started doing this type of work? After working in the auto-repossession field for 24 years, I became tired. I was tired of being shot at, screamed at, called names and being "the bad guy". I carried my camera with me where ever I went. I used it for surveillance and documenting my work...So, after I took a deep breath and talked it over with my family....They were delighted and relieved and are my biggest cheer-section!
