My job is rewarding because it focuses on Love and Understanding. Love and Understanding are what every relationship needs whether it's in marriage, dating, and family. After completing mediation sessions, I enjoy seeing and hearing the happiness my clients have as they work towards making a relationship last. Knowing that I'm a part of mending an important relationship and teaching clients the necessary tools to stay in positive relationships with one another is so amazing!

10 stars if it would let me! If you're ever in doubt, it's always good to find a place that will give you that free initial consultation because you're paying for their services and you need to make sure it's a good fit. But after coming here, I didn't need to search any further. I have been working with 1st Step Mediation practically since they began business. Mrs. Houston knows how to reduce the friction in many situations. Even if I'm uptight when our session begins, I found that she has been able to help me to get my emotions under control and reduce my stress level. Mediation with her was also like therapy because it gave me a mental release to understand why I've been going through what I've been going through. She is very kind and helpful and aims to see her clients happy. All the blame stops at the door. With Mrs. Houston's assistance, I've been able to reconcile many relationships, even ones I never thought I could. I thank you so much for having such a valuable impact on my life and helping me to be closer to God and prepare for all my future blessings by settling issues of my past. I HIGHLY recommend 1st Step Mediation! Even if you're not sure, just try that first session and it will help you to make up your mind!

I find the services offered at 1st Step Mediation to be highly effective. My mediator is very easy to talk to and very professional. At our initial meeting, she was able to ask me probing questions to help me to identify some underlying causes that I feel may help me to resolve my issues. She even offered some suggestions/input that I had not thought of before. Seeing my thoughts on paper helped me to put things into perspective and I am able to refer to the notes from our meeting to track my progress. My mediator follows up with me from time to time which shows me that 1st Step Mediation really cares. I look forward to working with my mediator again and I highly recommend 1st Step Mediation.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
At the present time I am enrolled at Liberty University Online pursuing my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. I believe earning this degree will only perfect my craft and assist me in understanding why people feel the way they feel and react the way they react in certain situations.
What types of customers have you worked with?
The most common jobs I do for my clients is assisting married couples to come to an agreement with working out any issues they have in their marriage. I also find myself assisting mothers and daughters with their relationship issues that mainly focus around one of the clients feeling unheard in regards to the other.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When looking for a mediator one should understand fully what the mediation service entails because there are many different types of mediation services offered. Likewise, customers should understand what mediation is because mediators offer a different kind of service than lawyers. It is up to the customer to research the difference and decide if their issue can be settled with a mediator or if it needs another type of service.
