I hired Rick to install wiring and a ceiling fan in one room, and wire and install an outside light on the patio. Rick is a very nice guy but he was not equipped to do this job. In the room with the ceiling fan he cut 7 holes 4' in diameter into ceiling and 1 hole into the wall he claimed I wouldn't be able to tell they were there when he finished. I wish I could post the pictures. First of all if you are going to do all that drilling place drop cloth over things to protect things, Thank God I had drop cloth for my computer. Secondly he didn't put up the ceiling fan correctly and left off the shield, the housing for the rod and the pull strings. I am in the process of taking it down, and putting the cover on the rod as soon as I can find the piece. On the rod it says these two screws have to be tightened to prevent wobble neither screw was screwed in completely. He left the fan and wall with dust and chips all over them I took pictures. As far as the patio light was concerned he had no clue as to what he was going to do. He needs to plan first. He drills a hole through the outside of my house to bring the wire inside near to where the switch is going to be unfortunately for me he doesn't measure and just eyeballs it. He ended up putting a hole in the inside wall high above the switch. He then proceeds to come inside the house and try to drill a hole from the inside to match the hole on the outside, without measuring or anything. He wants to drill this hole blindsided he can't see where its going to go he hasn't measured or anything. At that point I call off the job. I can't have random holes in the wall and going to the outside of the house. I tell him to remove the wire take down the fixture clean up and forget about it. I now have to paint two rooms because of his incompetence. I wish I could post pictures He cracked the siding on the house, left one panel of siding not completely attached and did a mess of a job with his plastering. After looking at the plastering of this electrical switch there was no way I was going to let him plaster the ceiling or the wall. He needs to be an apprentice with someone who knows what they are doing so they can train him. Another good idea would be to finish one portion of the job before going to the next job. Neither project was completed and yet he wanted to have more than 80% of the pay needless to say that didn't happen. He maybe good at other jobs but keep him away from anything electrical, or anything that involves cutting. Measure twice cut once.
