Introduction: I believe therapy is an extension of an individual's journey through pain, suffering, loss, and confusion. Together the client and I create clear goals, establish a therapeutic contract, define and explore resistance to goals, and meet weekly for a specific period of time. After graduating from the University of Virginia with a degree in Systems Engineering, working for the Home Depot corporate in merchandising, then managing the largest Chevrolet dealership in TN, I am now pursuing my 2nd career and passion as an individual, marital, and group therapist. My work with clients is highly collaborative, practical, and insight-oriented. My commitment is to help my clients find a way to get “unstuck,” often by helping them identify and communicate their internal feeling states. Whether the treatment is short-term, solution-oriented, or long term growth, the overarching purpose of my work is to help the client reach their personal goals. Clients I work with include: * couples hoping to improve communication and conflict resolution * couples working through issues of trust and infidelity, * narcissist and borderline personality disorders, * individuals seeking assistance dealing with substance or process addictions * professionals seeking assistance with promotion or increase in compensation at work * individuals struggling with anxiety, stress, or depression. If you fit into one of these six categories, please call! I offer a safe, confidential environment where you can address critical and difficult issues.I offer therapy that is both interpersonal and existential. Interpersonal is the work of focusing on how individuals relate, connect, and communicate with one another and an ability to offer and receive constructive feedback. Existential is a focus on choice/agency, meaning, anxiety, and hope. Looking forward to helping you have a better and guided path towards an incredible life.

My husband and I have been seeing Jeff for marital counseling since November 2018. He's helped us work through many issues, both within our marriage and outside of our marriage. We've learned so much about ourselves and each other over the past year: how to communicate more effectively, how to process certain feelings that come up, and so much more. Our marriage is in a much better place today than it was a year ago and I am so grateful. I highly recommend Jeff to anyone in need of marital counseling.

I've had such great sessions with Jeff. He listens, but also gives responsible feedback to help me be more aware of my actions. The office environment is very welcoming & comfortable. I would recommend him to any of my friends!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Pricing for an individual or marital therapy (a 50 min session) is $145 - $175 per session. A 90 min session on a Sunday is $275. Payment options are cash, check or credit card. Group psychotherapy (a 90 min session) is priced $75 per session. I do not accept insurance as payment for individual or marital therapy.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

After the client reaches out via email or phone, I schedule an initial phone conversation. During the initial phone conversation, we talk briefly about the reason the client is seeking therapy and some of the guidelines I have for therapy (cost, location, etc.). If the client is agreeable, we schedule an initial appointment. As part of the initial communication, I will email the client detailed paperwork (called informed consent) that the client will want to read, print, sign, and bring to the initial evaluation session. I believe one the most important aspects of selecting a therapist is finding someone you think is a good fit for you and you believe will be able to help you gain clarity or resolution on whatever you are bringing to therapy.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

School: University of Virginia Year Graduated: 2002 Supervisor Names: Angela Thompson, Carla Babb Additional Credentials Degree: Richmont Graduate University/Master of Arts in CMHC Year graduated: 2017 Membership: American Group Psychotherapy Association/65089 Member Since: 2017
