- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After a new student or student's parent contacts me and we agree upon a lesson day and time, I send them an email with complete instructions, including 1. What happens next 2. Registration instructions for student (and parent/guardian, where applicable) 3. Payment instructions 4. As applicable, either directions to my home-studio or requirements/instructions for logging in for internet lessons 5. Required forms, which must be completed and returned to me before the first lesson.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Above, I wrote a bit about my love for and stories about playing guitar and piano. You might start there for a brief, but fuller description of my relationships to these instruments. I have played guitar for 30 years, since my freshman year in college. I took a folk guitar class at UT/Austin, so I could join the worship team at my church's college class, and never looked back. After taking several years of piano as an elementary-school student, I quit and only dabbled for about fifteen years. In my twenties, I returned to the piano to explore whether I could use the basic chord structures I understood to worship personally and to lead worship. That turned out to be extremely enjoyable and successful for my needs, so I kept with it, attending theory classes, reading theory books, and working through adult method courses. I've played what I'd call "rhythm piano" for about 25 years since then. I've played rhythm guitar or piano and sang lead and BGV in many adult worship bands, youth worship bands, at large and small conferences, around a ton of campfires, at a few dude ranches, and as solo worship leader and/or performer in many churches and other settings.
