Introduction: Amy- I'm a vinyl-centric DJ playing the best of music from multiple genres. From funk to country and everything in between: if it's good, I'll give it a spin! Records provide a unique listening experience, and if you want to give your event a one-of-a-kind, special soundtrack, then I'm your man. Hi, my name is Chris Scruggs and I and a country music performer from Nashville, TN who regularly hosts a Sunday evening hillbilly music program at West Nashville's Stone Fox where DJ Tim Hibbs plays some of the absolute best in the history of recorded music, before and in between sets of live country music entertainment. Tim Hibbs is a class act all the way and I can't say enough good things about him! His knowledge of many styles of classic 20th century music (ranging from vintage country to garage rock and all styles in between) is truly extensive, his song selections are always informed and often carry a subtle theme that often leave many in the room wondering A) "what is this amazing record! Who on earth IS that artist?" B) "where the heck did DJ Tim FIND this amazing 7" Grail of Rock?" and C) "how have I never HEARD this before? This record is blowing my mind!" All of this comes from a DJ who never, ever in a million years has that heir of High Fidelity styled snobbery so often associated with record collectors and obscure/vintage music enthusiests. No, Tim does all of us phono-junkies a true credit and is the rare bird in the music loving world who has maintained that genuine, friendly, excitable passion for great music that sent many a wide-eyed teenager to the record store to buy their first grooved-out musical platters in the first place. His easy going demeanor and lack of any hint of pretense make any night featuring DJ Tim a special one. I really can't say enough good things about the guy! If you want to hire a DJ who knows a ton about great music, has an extensive and highly listenable collection of popular and rare vinyl, knows the ins and outs of songwriting credits, session musician background, studio/label info, what Steve Cropper had for lunch the day the song was recorded (even if it's a Buck Owens or Rolling Stones record!) etc, and is an all around great guy who is pleasantly sociable and MCs with a sense of class and honest good nature fit for radio, Tim Hibbs is the man for you! DJ Tim for president!

Rock, Blues, Funk, Soul, Honky Tonk, and beyond. This man has it. All on glorious vinyl. He knows everything about every song he plays. You know that groovy band with Neil Young and Rick James, The Mynah Birds? Never heard of them?!? Tim has it. Great person, Great DJ. HIGHLY recommended.

Tim is an excellent human being, and a stellar DJ. I've had him spin records at my own events, and I've been an attendee at many of his other engagements around town. He knows vinyl like no one else I've met, and his depth of knowledge and LOVE for music comes through in every playlist. He is a professional, and a joy to work with. And almost every time I hear him spin records, I come away with a new favorite song I never knew existed. Three cheers for DJ Tim Hibbs!

I have seen Tim at work many times. He is a superb DJ as he selects music from multiple genres...often times tunes that are more obscure....my ears perk up when he plays something I've not heard before...it's always great to hear something completely new! Tim is basically a musical encyclopedia and enjoys sharing what he knows and is happy to discuss with anyone who wishes to inquire. Tim's sense of style is sincere, it shows that he loves what he does, and he keeps those around him listening for more!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing depends on the event details. I am always happy to work with customers to try and bring the costs in line with their budget.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I prefer to speak with them about their event to ensure that I am the right DJ for the job. We can plan a playlist together or I can do it entirely, whatever the customer prefers. I do not require a deposit, merely a simple contract that we both will sign confirming the event details and guaranteeing that I will be there, ready to spin, at the agreed-upon day and time.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a music-industry veteran with years of experience in presenting events. I have also worked as a radio DJ and currently host "The Lunchtime Vinyl Session" and "Music City Stories" on the newly-launched Acme Radio, originating from Acme Feed & Seed at 1st & Broadway in Nashville. Whether a song is five minutes or five decades old, I will know it and be able to weave it into a crowd-pleasing set.
