Don't pay for service calls. Find someone who will let you know what the problem is and what it will take to fix it. Don't pay until the issue is resolved to your satisfaction.

TV and movies are wrong! Just because you know something about computers does not mean you know everything. Computer professionals constantly encounter issues they have never seen before. A good technician takes on the challenge and solves an issue they have never seen before no matter what, the bad give excuses and recommend that the customer purchase new equipment.
