FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My quote is always a “labor quote” and materials are additional. I do this because there are SO many different types of fabric, zippers, etc. and the pricing varies a lot depending on what you like.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
1. We start by looking at the project and what you’d like done so photos are the very best way to do that in the beginning! 2. I send my quote for labor so you have a good idea of how much you need to budget. A 50% deposit is required up front to begin any project. If you’d like I can figure up how many yards of material you might need to give an estimate cost for materials as well. 3. Shopping! I always offer to go shopping with you in case you need help matching up colors or just want some company. 4. I can either meet you somewhere or come to your home to pick up the pieces we’re working on. 5. Give me 2-3 weeks (depending on the project) and I will drop your finished masterpiece off to you! The remaining balance is due on completion.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was about 9 when I started sewing lessons and 14 when my parents gifted me with a professional sewing/embroidery machine. As a teenager I quickly went to work sewing, designing and doing embroidery for local sports teams, pageants and events. I transitioned into working in the Bridal industry as a seamstress for Kerried Away Couture, Davids Bridal, I Do Weddings, etc. over about 5 years. I later started my own business doing interior decorating, upholstery and design projects.
