- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
What to Expect - A Typical First Session Treatments begin with a consultation, discussing your individual medical history as well as your needs and expectations. During your initial consultation you will be asked to complete a Client Information form which consists of questions relating to your general health and medical history. This is so the treatments can be assessed to your individual needs, and is strictly confidential. On the first treatment clients are asked to give their written consent for the treatment and minors need to have consent from a legal guardian. All clients are asked to remove their shoes and socks for the treatment, but otherwise remain fully clothed, and an organic foot wipe is applied to the feet as a medium before the treatment begins. Clients are asked to lie down on a massage table and completely relax in order to gain full benefit. Ms. Wagner will make a visual and tactile examination of the feet and then start the treatment with moves to relax the feet. The Reflexology treatment itself is then performed using a specialized movement of the thumb and fingers with only appropriate pressure applied. Ms. Wagner may detect subtle changes in specific points on the feet and will work on these points which may help bring the corresponding organ or system back into balance with the body. You may feel slight tenderness when certain reflexes are being worked on and again she will gently work these which may help homeostasis in the body. "Is the treatment ticklish?" you may ask. Surprisingly, more often than not, even with people worried that they may be ticklish, the therapy is not ticklish. The pressure used during the treatment is firm without being hard. Reflexology does not tickle. However while the feet are being worked, there may be some discomfort. This is a reaction from illness or damage to a part of the body. Areas of discomfort do improve over each session as Ms. Wagner works to bring your body to zero balance. She will ask you to gage the discomfort between 1 to 10.... 10 being almost unbearable and will adjust accordingly. Treatments typically end with some deep breathing, guided by the practitioner. Reflexology can leave you feeling very relaxed after just one treatment. The therapist's expert touch can help you relax which can improve mood, aid sleep and relieve tension. The result is an overall sense of well-being. On the whole you will find a reflexology treatment stimulates deep relaxation and a sense of feeling reconnected with yourself and the world again. Individuals can feel either rejuvenated or very relaxed at the end of a session, depending on what the body needs. If you feel tired, you will usually feel more energetic once you have rested enough. Ms. Wagner will give you an information sheet outlining what she has found and what your "homework" will be between treatments. A course of treatments may be recommended depending on your body's needs. After the course you may wish to have monthly treatments for maintenance and/or because it makes you feel good. Many clients return again and again because they enjoy the treatments so much and feel extremely relaxed afterwards.
