Introduction: Talented piano teacher with extensive experience of over 40 years in teaching different ages and cultures, and skill level from beginners to advanced. Received professional training in performance, pedagogy and accompanying in England, Arizona, Knoxville, and Berlin from well-known professors.
Belle has been teaching piano since 1983 in Malaysia, London, China and America. She completed the Associated Board of Royal School of Music exams at a young age of 15. She acquired a Bachelors of Music in Performance with Honors at Northern Arizona University and received a Masters of Music in Collaborative Piano with Honors at the University of Tennessee.
Belle has performed extensively with choirs, singers, and instrumentalists around the world since 1987. She also coordinated and managed a wide variety of multicultural music events since 2006. She has collaborated extensively with professional musicians in joint productions of chamber music, song recitals, benefit concerts, musical drama and has appeared as a pianist on Live Voice Competitions. In Knoxville, she currently has her own Piano Trio, Kibeka Trio, that performs 20th & 21st century chamber music.
She is able to teach a variety of musical styles including classical, jazz, popular, hymns, and worship music; and coaching students towards taking examinations, and performing live on stage. Uses a unique variety of teaching techniques to make lessons fun and enjoyable. Her comprehensive approach to piano teaching can help students learn to speak this musical language beautifully.
Music is a language. Piano technique is an important element in communicating this language. Belle is very passionate about not only teaching her students how to play the notes, but also teaching technique, using the Matthay’s method, a very important part of her piano instruction. Improvisation, a lost art among the classical musicians, is also encouraged. It is a way of expressing music from within our musical spirit, creating music that is uniquely our own.
