- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Attended Veterinary school but had to get a job. Worked as a zookeeper and vet tech for 25 years and loved it! Became a stay at home mom when we adopted twins from Cambodia but continued the exotic boarding business from a specially designed building behind my house. Now my daughters are 16 and wanted to get a job they would love and was flexible with their busy teenage life. Many of my clients have dogs and cats and now we can do both- the exotics at my place, the dogs and cats at yours :)
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Having been in business for over 30 years, I have boarded everything imaginable. Most of my clientele have parrots but have also had everything from monkeys, ferrets, rabbits, reptiles to even a black Leopard. I will board anything but dogs and cats as there are many others out there who can care for them. I specialize in the unusual pets. BUT, to take care of your dogs and cats, my daughters are also offering pet sitting in your home, I will be helping them out whenever needed.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I encourage you to come see my place and meet me before you ever might need to board. I want you to feel comfortable about my ability to care for your pet and also be pleased with my facility. Now that my daughters are also offering pet sitting in your home, I will be helping them out whenever needed.
