FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I was in college, I was originally a psychology major. I love getting in people's heads and finding out what they are all about. I realized a little way in thought that psychology was not the actual career for me. I thought long and hard about what I wanted to do with my life and remembered that since I was a child that I had been drawing floor plans. I was constantly reorganizing my bedroom, moving furniture, hanging things on the walls to make it better and it was an invigorating feeling for me. I loved space planning in my head and on paper. I loved making things look beautiful and personal. That's when it hit me. Interior design was where I could make these childish dreams a reality. I have never regretted my decision to change my major to interior design and enter this field.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
In all honesty, my most recent job that I'm most proud of is my own home. My family and I purchased an old home built in 1956 and are remodeling it. We have been here for 2 years and the going is slow due to our busy lives, but when people walk in and ooh and aah over how much we have accomplished and made it feel like a cozy home, all the hard work suddenly seems worth it. We will probably be working on it for years because it needs so much updating, but it is a gem with so much potential and I'm glad that I had the design eye to see that when we first walked through it all.
