Your students deserves the very best in a teacher, and I am confident that my professional experience and qualifications will contribute to their education. I have a bachelors degree from Allegheny College with a certification earned at The College of The Bahamas. After I received this certification, I've taught in the inner-city public schools of the Bahamas for 3 years. In 2003, I moved to Tennessee, where I've worked in preschool education and community programs for several years. I have recently graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University with honors, where I completed my masters degree in K-6 grade classroom education and licensure in music for K-12 grade. With my experience and creative edge, I will help your student flourish as a happy, healthy and enriched student. Your initial consultation is completely free.
Many teachers seem to make singing a complicated and sophisticated thing. I believe that our bodies are built to sing and project the voice, and that there could be nothing more basic to us than making what I call "singing sounds." The first thing a baby does when he or she is born is to take a big deep breath and cry - that's a singing sound! We then spend the next 18 years being told to "be quiet"... we have to get back to that basic singing sound that we do involuntarily. My teaching focuses on the many things that affect how we breathe - how we take in the air and how we let it out again. My teaching focuses on listening to the body and letting it speak for itself.

I have seven years of experience with instruction of all aspects of English language arts, Latin and writing composition. In teaching, I focus on the key elements of language and composition. These include the significance of contextual evidence, literary/rhetorical device usage, the patterns consistent throughout all languages, interpretation and comprehension of literature and perfecting the stages of the writing process. I particularly emphasize skillful word usage and sentence variation in any written work as well as in rhetoric. In order to teach language structure, I teach the vital critical thinking skills necessary to analyze and interpret languages. Those invaluable problem-solving skills extend far beyond learning the grammar and vocabulary of any language. They reach across the academic curriculum and into the professional world. Guided by my instruction, students reach their academic goals and surpass their own expectations. My primary tutoring subjects are the following: * Latin (grammar, translation, interpretation and composition) * English Language Arts * Composition * Grammar * Proofreading and Editing * Writing Skills * Literature * Study Skills/Organizational Planning
I find that if you really love what you do then the quality will speak for itself. I found that I was terrible at waiting tables because I lacked passion for it. So I had to ask myself what is that I love doing? I love learning French and I love playing my guitar. So I set up a business around these two loves of my life. I love watching people as they learn that it is possible to learn a second language or play along their favorite songs on guitar.
