When I found Rob Atkins, I was an award-winning teacher who had been let go. I felt like I had lost my identity because I thought of myself as a teacher and then I wasn't. I found a probationary job educating adults in leadership skills in a non-academic setting. I contacted him to see if I could add some focus, leadership, and a professional image to my life. He has done much more. Thanks to him, I have more clarity in my personal and professional life. I realize I always had confidence and leadership ability but was just afraid to show it and was oblivious to it. I know more about how to navigate outside of the classroom, and I am not looking back! As a result, I have now been retained in my current job, and I look forward to the opportunities it will present! The religious aspect is also what I needed to hear since it has too often taken a back burner to my career. Rob is able to zero in on exactly what you need to move forward in your life and career. He recommends books, courses of action, and even what to say in certain situations. His advice is concrete and specific, and not just a "pep talk." Thank you, Rob, for everything! I highly recommend Rob Atkins as a life coach! Danielle Blount, Ed. D.

There are many reasons to hire Bill & iCoachLife for your career/life coaching needs, but out of those many reasons, the most important is Bill's genuine authenticity. This business is not a side gig for Bill, it's his primary focus and I've rarely met someone with his energy and positive outlook on life and the lives of his clients. No matter what state of mind you are in when you walk into a session w/ Bill, you'll leave there feeling empowered to tackle the many life challenges that are coming at you each day. Sometimes in life, we need someone outside of our immediate sphere of family, friends and colleagues to remind us how blessed we really are, and that each day is an OPPORTUNITY to create a better life, while being grateful for what we have already. Whatever it is that you are looking for in a life/career coach, consider Bill a catalyst to that discovery journey. Starting from the first session, he's 100% in your corner and truly wants to see you be successful.

I have worked with Nadia for many years, and I will say that if you're ready to take a big leap into your own growth and authenticity, Nadia Meyer is the spiritual counselor for you. She is not interested in keeping you comfortable or in tiptoeing around you while you stay asleep. What she WILL do is offer insights and questions that go right to the heart of your issue, leaving you no longer able to pretend that you don't know. She connects with compassion, curiosity, a little irreverence, and a huge serving of humor. You will love working with Nadia!

I have come to believe that to grow into who we truly want to be and live meaningful, purposeful, joyful lives, most, if not all of us, will need the objective viewpoint, support and accountability from a coach, mentor, therapist; whatever we are comfortable with calling that person. Working with Deborah has been a lifesaver for me at a time in my life when I had reached the height of frustration and almost lost hope of a positive future. She has been that constant source of support and accountability, helping me realize and keeping me focused on my calling, helping me address and overcome foundational lies that have held me back for years in shame and unawareness and helping me reclaim my power to act on managing my life to create meaning and purpose. Through insight from her own life story (I'm not alone; it's not just me!) and her continuous and compassionate support of moving me forward, I see a light at the end of the tunnel and have hope that I am beginning to understand my calling and how to contribute my unique gifts I was meant to share with others. I don't gravitate toward the "guru types"; Deborah's a real, down-to-earth, "takes it all in stride" kinda woman, and wants only the best for those with whom she works. If you're not living the life you envisioned, she can definitely help get you track!

Charlene effectively helped me peel back the layers of some of my personal and professional frustrations exposing the psychological and spiritual roots. While masterfully guiding the conversation, she did not dictate the topic or path, rather she asked questions to help bring me to a new level of awareness. In only a few months I was noticed significant differences in the way I was thinking and responding to certain a situations.

Esther was my life coach during one of the most difficult and trying seasons of my life. She helped me to place my focus where it needed to be and move forward. Esther listens well, shares her good wisdom, and speaks from a caring and truthful place. My experience with Esther was wonderful and I strongly recommended her to anyone who needs honest life direction.

I started seeing Amanda at a dark time in my life. I had no idea what I needed from a counselor- I just knew I needed help. She knew exactly how to help me through my problems and helped me see the light and joy inside myself. I now consider her to be so much more than a counselor, but also a friend I can go to whenever I need emotional/spiritual support and guidance. Can't recommend her enough!

Mary is the best! At my first meeting with Mary I was walking like the Mummy (dragging my right foot) with acute pain from a hip injury a couple of years earlier. She gently made an assessment and we did several modified yoga postures and stretches. I went home with a list of Egoscue stretches and movements. She also initiated my to the 8 limbs of yoga and we meditated. That was about 9 months ago. While I admit I am not the "poster Child" yoga student. my life has changed. Physically, I now have much greater range-of-motion and flexibility. My acute pain is gone and the times I overdo an activity and my hip screams at me, I know which modified yoga postures give me relief. I am so grateful for my expanding spiritual awareness and new peaceful demeanor. Mary is a true professional, but as a client/student, I look forward to the spiritual benefit as much as the physical relief. Mary goes far beyond to taylor the therapy and make the most out of the personal journey. I cannot imagine a better practitioner or a better experience. -Peggy

      About

I believe that every moment in life has something to teach us, if we are willing to look at them with the right perspective. I believe that those perspectives may be the key to unlocking the potential that each of us have hidden within ourselves. I make it my goal in every interaction to create a space that enables my clients to see themselves honestly and without judgement. I enjoy working with individual adults as they learn to conquer their anxieties, abide with grief, beat back depression, manage physical pain, and discover their purpose in life. In addition to being a counselor, I am certified to practice hypnotherapy. I'm passionate about coaching his clients through developing their own meditation practices, because I believes that everyone needs a regular exercise for getting the most out of their mind.

I am naturally empathic. When you suffer, I feel the injustice. When you celebrate, I cry tears of joy. I want you to succeed and know the fulfillment of finding your life purpose.

      About

I am a life coach not a liscensed therapist or counselor in Tennessee. I worked for seven years in a dual diagnosis mental health/drug and alcohol facility. I not only helped both adults and adolescents get sober but even more so dealt with patients issues in their relationships, spotted issues and came up with solutions that could sabotage continued sobriety/happiness. Since most patients used alcohol and drugs to cope with problems in their life, my belief is by fixing those underlying issues so patients no longer feel the need to medicate to deal with life. I love relationship therapy, conflict resolution and strengthening relationships. I have a keen ability to see the whole picture and am able to point out in a loving but matter of fact way. I don't take sides I call it as it is. I had a foster daughter with serious family, mental health issues and lots of personal problems. I got her at age 15 and raised her till 19. After lots of life coaching, family counseling, self esteem work she graduated high school and even went to college. She went on to getting married and having two kids. She was a difficult case but her mom trusted my abilities enough to sign over custody to me. Lastly my approach to life coaching is unique in that it involves taking a serious look at a clients character defects, letting go of resentments that hold people back from true happiness, helping clients identify the root cause of their emotions/problems and learning to truly love themselves.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

      Why get a life coach?

People of all ages and in all careers have called in a life coach. Life coaches are accredited professionals who can help you figure out the tangible changes you can make in your life to reach your goals; they can even help you turn your dreams into goals, if you’re not sure where to go next. A life coach can also help people find their purpose in life. Life coaching clients often have an idea of what they want to do, such as help people or work with animals, but don’t know how to turn that passion into a career. A life coach can help clients work through the options to find a clear path with concrete steps that lead to an attainable goal. A life coach can also help clients make a major career change, such as starting a new business. Life coaches can help clients develop better habits that will make them more successful, acting as an accountability partner. Life coaches also often guide their clients through major transitions in life, such as a career change or other stressful situations that are made easier with guidance from a neutral third party.
