Introduction: I offer Private Cooking Lessons over video, at my studio, and even at your home. I also act as a facilitator for food-oriented Team Building events - at my studio, in your office, or any venue you choose. No kitchen needed! ALSO: I work in Nashville, Chattanooga and Huntsville, and all areas in-between. Some classes can be found on my online calendar, you can just buy tickets online. If you want something specific, let's set up a class for you! You choose what you learn how to make, and pick a class time for when it fits best into your schedule. There's no waiting around for "vegetarian week" or "pastry week". Need to learn how to cook Gluten-Free? Vegan? Allergic to shellfish? You're safe. I sanitize between clients, and we won't have any ingredients around if you can't eat them! You can also opt for private, at-home instruction. Host a cooking lesson party at your home, serving your own beverages, and learn at your own pace. This is much less intimidating than going to a "professional" training kitchen. It can be just you, a special couple's date-night, a group of friends, a or a family bonding experience! P. S. I also do group team building events! I hired Chef JoAnna come to my house to give a private cooking lesson to myself and my wife. She was very flexible in setting up the time of the lesson and the menu. She provided some suggestions that included full meals or mix and match courses. We opted for the Butter Nut Squash Ravioli and Linguni with two different sauces. Both were made with pasta that we made from scratch. The dessert was a quick tiramisu that was just a delicious as any tiramisu Ive ever had. She even covered lots of different cooking tips, skills, and equipment. We LOVED it. I was worried it might be a little awkward, but JoAnna and her sense of humor made it as comfortable as possible. It was my request to start at 5:30 pm due to time constraints, but I would recommend starting a little earlier if possible as it was several hours before we were ready to eat what we cooked (pasta is hard, ha-ha). JoAnna warned us it would be awhile, but I'd like to further recommend that you be prepared to wait 3-4 hrs. If anyone is thinking of having a lesson, I highly recommend using JoAnna.

I hired Chef JoAnna as a private chef for a cooking lesson for me and my girlfriend for my girlfriend's birthday. We had so much fun! I found her website online and decided to give her a call. Chef JoAnna provided a range of options for the menu and let me choose what I thought would be a good dinner to cook together. I told her it was a surprise for my girlfriend's birthday, and she even helped keep it a secret (we were in touch over email and by text). We drove to her kitchen, which is about 1 hr outside of Nashville. She also will travel to use your kitchen as well. The menu was a 3 course Indian food meal (I chose the cuisine beforehand, she recommended some menu choices) that my girlfriend and I cooked together with Chef JoAnna's instruction. She had some appetizers waiting for us so that we wouldn't be hungry waiting for our food to cook. She took time to explain a lot of different cooking techniques (both of us were kitchen novices), so we were able to learn a lot! Once the entree was done, we enjoyed our dinner with wine that I brought. After the entree, we enjoyed dessert together. I would recommend Chef JoAnna for cooking lessons. I was able to pay for everything with a credit card. We kept the leftovers and leftover unused groceries. She was a great teacher, and my girlfriend and I were able to make our own gourmet meal. We both really enjoyed the whole evening!

Chef Joanna was easy to work with. She help me put together a gift certificate for my son-in-law for Christmas. He is so excited about his cooking classes! Can't wait to get back to Tennessee and give her a call to set up his class.

Chef JoAnna, was truly AMAZING! My Girl Scout Troop needed to earn their cooking badge and I was lost on what to do. Chef JoAnna provided a healthy, fun option for my girls and they enjoyed every bit of it! The thing I liked the most about Chef JoAnna was the confidence she gave us...I mean, we had two non-cooking moms with eight girls trying to cook...how scary is that! But Chef gave us the guidance and encouragement we needed to complete the dish and it was DELICIOUS!!! I would use her again and again. Oh and she's priced very reasonably! Thanks again Chef JoAnna you saved our day!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My base fee is for a 3-hour lesson. Two people can participate for the same price. (more than two is additional cost, please inquire.) This includes custom lesson planning, local travel, recipe booklets, time spent grocery shopping, advance preparation, 3 hours of hands-on instruction**, and clean-up. All participants can borrow my toques & aprons. Rate does NOT include grocery costs*, disposables, rentals, beverages or optional gratuity. I simply ask for reimbursement for groceries. *The cost of groceries is additional and varies depending on what you prefer. For example, if you request organic foods, gluten-free bread/pastry, or vegan “dairy” products, that will increase costs. I typically shop at Publix or Kroger, and would be happy to go to Whole Foods or another specialty market upon request. ** Overtime is charged at $75/hr in half-hour increments. I am budget-conscious, and will work with you to create a lesson plan that has the biggest bang for your buck. I'm happy to customize your lesson to fit your dietary restrictions, and I will make sure every detail of your lesson.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I attended culinary school in Santa Monica at the Art Institute of California at Los Angeles. I earned a 4.0 GPA and earned Best in Class for my baking class. I have been cooking professionally for over 10 years, and I've worked in kitchens of all types.
