Being a musician and playing in bands since 8th grade, I was put in charge of finding a band for my High School class's 50th Reunion. After searching for several weeks, I decided on Top Tier. Their demo music on their website was tight and talent was outstanding. Communication with JD was very cordial, professional, and made me feel like we were long time friends! When our event night came, the band couldn't have been friendlier and the music couldn't have been better! Our class of 1967 wanted mostly "Oldies" music, of course and they did not disappoint! The mix of music was great and kept everyone on the dance floor all night long! They even had me up to sing "Duke of Earl"! Great time! My concerns about choosing the right band were alleviated early, as all my classmates raved about how good the band was before they even took a break! Would definitely have them back again! Best Reunion we've ever had! Top Tier...The Best! Mark Dennis

I have known and worked with Rebecca for the past decade in a variety of settings from small clubs to large festivals. She and the musicians she surrounds herself with are always first class and never fail to deliver a spectacular set or two for my events. I plan to continue booking her for at least another decade.

Angela Hurt has helped me become a better singer and a honestly better person. Ask her about her experiences, and you will quickly realize she is one of the most qualified people in Nashville to teach voice lessons, especially in the country genre. I had already been playing out professionally here and there before I found her, but I'm so glad I did. I'm a much more confident performer. I have had a few good teachers, but she is better than all of them combined. She is kind, listens, and genuinely cares about your individual successes and personal progression. I do one-hour sessions. I love going to every lesson, and I started seeing results immediately. If you're thinking twice about taking her, stop now. You won't regret it. Have fun, and don't ever stop progressing!

I simply cannot say enough good things about 30Vice. We hired them to play during our cocktail hour and wedding reception, and it was undoubtedly one of the best decisions we could have made. My husband and I both love music, so getting the right band was one of our highest priorities. We live in NY, but had our wedding in FL, so researching options was somewhat daunting - but when I came across 30Vice, I knew I had found the answer. It is truly rare to work with a group that excels at their craft, and is also incredibly professional. Erie, the band manager, is a pleasure to work with. He is friendly, extremely responsive, and makes sure everything is lined up perfectly in advance of the big day. When neither our officiant nor venue had a microphone available for the ceremony, Erie quickly, and at the last minute, coordinated one for us so we didn’t have to worry. Our reception truly surpassed our expectations, and 30Vice is one of the main reasons. I can’t tell you how many guests approached my husband and I to ask us how we found our band, and to comment on how great they were. Our wedding was one of the only weddings I’ve been to where literally everyone was on the dance floor at all times - and that is thanks to the talent and level of engagement Jordan, Massiel, and the entire band displayed. Our reception truly felt like one big party that was inclusive of all guests/ages, and that is exactly what we wanted. We are already thinking about future parties/events where we can have 30Vice play. Thank you, thank you to 30Vice for helping to make our wedding such an unforgettable event!! You guys are awesome!!

Campbell Station was the featured band at a House Concert that I hosted. Their harmonies are seamless and Seth is a one man orchestra on the guitar. They are professional and personable. Their original music is rich, polished and captivating.

It was such a pleasure to have Emily and the rest of Blunt Honey be part of our special day. The band members were the personification of music in their energy and performance, radiating a natural warmth as they weaved their tapestry of sound. These musicians are wonderful people with tremendous talent.

I've used Rick Wilkerson and his band for two events and have been happy with their performance, professionalism, and energy at both events. Their music style was appropriate for both events and Rick is very responsive to questions and on the fly requests. He's an easy going guy who brings the right vibe to any event. I look forward to working with me more!

I've heard this band several times, and it's hands down the most fun swing dance/big band/motown band in Nashville. They manage to get more people on the dance floor than any other band I've seen. I've heard from organizers they're very professional to work with as well. Highly recommend.

~ Clip from BORO PULSE NEWS by Christi Bradford ~ Article Title: Smooth Sounds in the 'Boro: Jay Witherspoon Becoming Local Legend The man can sing anything. From country to alternative to everything in between, and he can sing it all very, very well. After learning about the album he's currently working on, I sat down with him and his producer Jerry Michael of Michael Entertainment to have a little chat. Jerry has been working with Jay developing his voice. Jay said when I met Jerry [my producer], I told him: when you find a song, I'm your piece of clay; mold me into whatever you want. Jay has some background in jazz. But always there is soul. It permeates every note. It runs through the core of his being. You can hear it in his voice; see it in the way he works a crowd: country-soul. Jerry has more to say on the subject of Jay's singing. "I've worked with some great singers and that is what Jay has developed into; he's a great singer." It's easy to agree with him. When I learned he was releasing an album very soon, in fact. I insisted on sitting down with him for the express purpose of sharing him with as many people as possible. For those of you who know Jay: you know what I'm talking about. For those of you who don't: the release of his new album will inevitably skyrocket to fame and fortune.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

    • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
    • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
    • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.
