Introduction: Hey! My name is Matt and I'm a Music Teacher and Producer living in East Nashville. I have over 18 years of teaching experience and can help you get a lot of enjoyment out of your playing or producing. I'm a patient teacher and I make my lessons fun and engaging. I teach all styles of music including Pop, Rock, Country & Jazz as well as songwriting, recording, mixing and audio production lessons. I also make it a point to keep the lessons interesting, and introduce songs that compliment the music theory that we're learning at that particular time. I teach all about the underlying theory and logic of music to help you learn how to become fluent on your instrument or DAW. Matt is a wonderful teacher! He's extremely knowledgable and breaks things down so that it's easier to understand. I'd recommend Matt for guitar lessons to anyone!

The experience of learning guitar from Matt has blown any expectation that I might of had. I came to Nashville from LA with the desire to learn some guitar basics geared towards song writing. I wasn't sure if that was a feasible option, but that was my hope. Not only have I learned many basics, but Matt's style of teaching has connected so many dots from long lost childhood piano lessons in a way that really makes sense for me. Matt's an amazing musician which is obvious up front, but his aptitude in assigning learning materials that both interest you and push you without overwhelming you has made this learning experience nothing short of exceptional. He's patient, informative, and the type of teacher that puts you immediately at ease. If you're looking for lessons, you'd be crazy to choose anyone else. Definitely five brilliantly, shining gold stars!

Matt is an incredible teacher!! He tailors the lessons to my learning style and interests, making the material easier for me to retain. Matt has been teaching my son guitar for 3 1/2 years now. He recently moved out of the area, but we have loved working with Matt so much that we have worked it out so that my son is able to do his lessons over Skype. My son isn't the easiest student, but Matt makes lessons fun & keeps my sons attention. Highly recommend!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lessons are 60 minutes long and are charged by the hour. Students must pay for the entire month of lessons upfront. There is a 24 hour cancellation policy for anything other than sudden illness. If the cancellation policy is not met, the student is charged for the lesson.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Our first lesson is centered around finding out what the student already knows, and where the holes are in their musical knowledge so I can determine what to focus on. We also speak about the student's goals, and then figure out the best way to proceed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been teaching music lessons for 14+ years, have been a professional musician for 15 years, a record producer/engineer/mixer for 10 years... I also have an Ethnomusicology/Psychology degree from Cornell University
