Music Therapy & Music Lessons
About this pro
Emily has been wonderful teaching my son the violin. He had never played an instrument and after 2 lessons he already knows 2 songs and how to read some notes. She is very patient and knowledgeable of the violin. We will definitely hire Emily for future lessons. My son loves it when he knows Emily is coming so he can show her what he has praticed!Jan 19, 2016Verified

It was such a pleasure to have Emily and the rest of Blunt Honey be part of our special day. The band members were the personification of music in their energy and performance, radiating a natural warmth as they weaved their tapestry of sound. These musicians are wonderful people with tremendous talent.Jul 15, 2015

- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?As a board-certified music therapist, I am required to earn 100 hours of continuing education every five years. I'm also a member of the American Music Therapy Association. As a performer and teacher, I regularly attend workshops, concerts and conferences to stay up to date on the latest news and trends in my field.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I started playing music when I was eight years old. I began on the violin, and guitar and piano soon followed. The older I got, the more I realized that I wanted music to play a vital role in the rest of life. I volunteered for Hospice in high school, as part of a team of teenagers who made scrapbooks for patients and families. One of our supervisors told me about music therapy, and I was instantly drawn to it. I felt that this was the perfect way for me to blend my love of music and love for people. I have no regrets!
- What types of customers have you worked with?Music therapy clients and music students alike range in age from five to sixty-five, of every colorful background and various abilities. I love them all.
