My name is Sam and I am 16 years old. Shane made me see the importance of having no fear. He taught me things that a college professor couldn't teach. He pushed me to be better person, musician, and song writer. He opened my eyes and ears to things I have never been aware of in matters of music. But the most important thing he taught me, was to do what you love and what makes you happy whether it be music, art, sports, etc. "Be courageous and do the things that scare the crap out of you." No guitar teacher on earth will be what Shane was for me. He will never disappoint you. I recommend him for all ages and anyone who loves music. Email him right now and scedule your first lesson! -Sam Braddy

I came to Shane seeking guitar instruction after studying off and on for a few years and he definitely helped me get to the next level, both on the guitar, and on the mental side of my approach to practice. I was in a place where I knew most of the blues soloing shapes, but he did a great job of helping me see beyond the shapes and notes on paper and really feel the music that I am playing. He had accomplished what other teachers have struggled with - teaching guitar improvisation in a way that made me care and feel the exact emotion that the original guitarist had performed it in. His lessons were laid out in an organized matter and each lesson had a great blend of instruction and interaction. Most of the lesson time was learning through playing, which really helped me learn in an engaged way. I cannot recommend Shane enough.

Phil Leftwich One might wonder why a 71 year old man would want to learn classical guitar, or why he would be so choosy in selecting a music teacher. Fondness of holding an instrument again since leaving guitar behind on and off since the age of six? Physical and spiritual rehabilitation? For the pure enjoyment of playing once again? Learning a new way of picking and strumming without a pick? Getting ready for summer music camp at the tip of Maine? Googling and searching for guitar players and teachers in a town filled with them? Just the fun of learning? Guilty of all the afore mentioned. I found Shane through his website which struck my curiosity as belonging to someone with very special skills and a philosophy of learning which suited my disposition. I decided after one lesson that we were on the same page musically, and in how we see life. Shane is an excellent listener who wants to understand his pupils as people as much as he desires to teach them how to play the guitar. It is this approach to teaching which allows him to excel. His varied skills with a wide variety of music and playing styles also allow for growing to love the patience of practice, feeling the music, and learning some new things about oneself along the way. In a sentence, Shane makes learning to play

Wow, how could I possibly recommend Shane more highly?! Besides being a phenomenal guitarist, he's also an amazing songwriting instructor. I moved here 2 years ago with the dream of making music that hit charts but didn't have a clue how and what I've learned with Shane is a true respect for the craft as well as a desire to write music that means something and comes from my soul. I was just nominated for New Songwriter of the Year with the Tennessee Songwriters Association International; that, paired with my music already making the radio in a mid-market, has been such a blessing. I can absolutely declare that Shane's guidance and instruction got me to this point and will carry me far beyond! Please call him. You can't go wrong with Green Hills Guitar Studio. The proof is in the pudding and now I have an industry nod to prove it! Thank you, thank you Shane! -Wyatt Wallace, 2015 Horizon Award Nominee TSAI
