Enjoyed very much - continuing education Creative Writing taught by Kemi. This included short stories, plays and poetry. The class involved a final presentation and many outside opportunities were highlighted (such as writers groups and book fairs). Because of this very positive class, I will continue taking creative writing classes.

My tutoring experience with Larry was very good! He assessed my speaking and writing ability first and then moved-on to vocabulary and verbs. It was a great experience overall!

I worked with Ellen on a very large website for a prominent national franchise. She was the lead writer and editor for the project, and I was a contributing writer. I was continually in awe of Ellen's skills and talents. Not only is she an eagle-eyed editor, she's a great writer. Elleb has the ability to bring dry business stories to life, and she always finds a way to creatively approach a story. As a result of her mentorship, I'm rarely intimidated by large website writing projects. She taught me the right way to approach them!

Very detailed in her explanations, she was well versed in the reading and English sections helping me raise my score in each. She teaches a class for act tutoring at my school (Central Magnet), but I didn't have the time to take a semester class. This is a great alternative that I would recommend for anyone looking to bump up their score.

Julie is fantastic- nurturing, kind, professional and a great writing tutor. Her rates are lower than average, so the value was terrific. She is always on time or a bit early. My son loved her. We used her multiple times a week as our primary writing teacher for my 6th grader who was homeschooled at the time. I recommended her to a friend who needed a homeschool tutor due to some emotional difficulty with school and she was so grateful. Julie was the first tutor that her daughter responded to positively. Julie is kind and gentle, but firm so things get done. She will bend over backward to help a student or their parents. She has a true love of both learning and of her students. She is a wonderful person to have in your home. Peaceful, kind, personable. You will be fortunate if you are able to fit into her schedule and she into yours!!

I highly recommend Gina Roberts for helping your child with continued learning. She has helped my daughter tremendously. Gina started with simple things like getting her to write all her alphabet and numbers 1-25 by memory. She has worked with my daughter to get her from here ABC's into recognizing and memorizing sight words! She has helped my daughter with her reading and comprehension. She is now reading simple sentences. My daughter loves her learning time with Gina. She is wonderful and polite with my daughter.

I have been interested in learning to play guitar for a long time. My son who is going to be a senior was also interested in picking up the bass guitar in order to take a Rock Band class in school. Being a busy mom, I needed someone who could come to our house as well as be flexible with scheduling lessons. Lonny does both of these and is very reasonable with his fee. My son and I both have played piano and 1 other instrument each so that rhythm and reading notes came easier for us. But Lonny took me pretty far in the first couple of lessons that I was able to play notes on all 6 strings and therefore beautiful classical guitar songs with notes and chords in the treble and bass clefs. He is currently working with my son on syncopation. I'm confident that he has listened to my son's goals and will have him ready to be comfortable playing in Rock Band once school starts.

About

I have seven years of experience with instruction of all aspects of English language arts, Latin and writing composition. In teaching, I focus on the key elements of language and composition. These include the significance of contextual evidence, literary/rhetorical device usage, the patterns consistent throughout all languages, interpretation and comprehension of literature and perfecting the stages of the writing process. I particularly emphasize skillful word usage and sentence variation in any written work as well as in rhetoric. In order to teach language structure, I teach the vital critical thinking skills necessary to analyze and interpret languages. Those invaluable problem-solving skills extend far beyond learning the grammar and vocabulary of any language. They reach across the academic curriculum and into the professional world. Guided by my instruction, students reach their academic goals and surpass their own expectations. My primary tutoring subjects are the following: * Latin (grammar, translation, interpretation and composition) * English Language Arts * Composition * Grammar * Proofreading and Editing * Writing Skills * Literature * Study Skills/Organizational Planning

About

About

I am a retired administrative assistant (40 years) who attended Vanderbilt on a Rockefeller scholarship and thereafter worked at Vanderbilt University Medical Center Research, Department of Nephrology Clinical Trials Center (10 years), Vanderbilt Temporary (secretarial) Services (5 yrs), Meharry Medical College Library and the Meharry Community Mental Health Center psychology and psychiatry for a total of 8 years. While at Vanderbilt, I was assigned the ultimate responsibility of coordinating the annual renowned Paul Teschan Lectureship, which is a grand meeting of researchers, professors, philanthropists, and aspiring physicians in the field of nephrology for the purpose of honoring Dr.Teschan's long-time contribution to nephrology and to share ideas, support, and communication regarding kidney technological and treatment advances, even with third-world countries. I coordinated everything, beginning with the travel of each dignitary from his/her country to the U.S. (his/her cuisine preference, favorite flowers, temperature preference for meeting room, etc.), TIO Lectureship seating, invitation design and self-printing. I earned this respected privilege from my coordinating the Clinical Journal Club meetings for 5 years, which are meetings in which professors lectured the interns and residents on chosen subjects they felt needed clarification or reinforcement. I am experienced in meeting deadlines, multitasking, researching, problem resolution, tutoring, personal assistance, medical terminology, word processing, transcription, correspondence, editing, and proofreading. I exemplify strong math skills and have studied 2 years of each of the following languages: French, Spanish, and German. I possess strong interpersonal skills as well as caretaking skills, which I have developed through being a wife, mother, a single, divorced parent, and now a grandmother as well as through the experiences from the employment I have been privileged to have, which includes taking care of three elderly women -- two I assisted for several months each to their deaths and one still lives at age 96. I have also worked several years as a legal secretary and as a bank/real estate secretary. I supplemented my education credits with an associate degree in fashion merchandising, being instructed in the first class of Karen Wedgeworth-Miller, wife of the late Dan Miller of Nashville Channel 4 News fame. I presently supplement my retirement income by employment with Uber and Lyft as a ride-share driver. Having played (violin) in the Cremona String Orchestra from its founding to 10 years later, my interests and abilities are far reaching, making the number of jobs I qualify to do and that I can perform quite well very surprising!

About

As a retired English teacher of 33 years, I have taught and tutored over 1200 students, as well as engaged in my own essay and creative writing. The effective use of language and literary devices such as metaphor, symbol, and imagery in classic and contemporary literature, as well as their own essays, was the primary focus of my professional career. In addition, I taught grammar skills, editing, journaling, and the writing/analysis of poetry. My students enjoyed many fruitful results from our work together: admission to prestigious schools for entrance or SAT/ACT essays; jobs editing, grant writing, or teaching; and publishing novels. Writing has been my passion for life, and I love assisting others in becoming successful writers, as well as becoming a better one myself.
