"Judy and John were great to work with! Their "photo booth" is a 5 ft, interactive, photo mirror! Everyone LOVED it. There are tons of templates to choose from, for your printed photos. The look of the mirror was impressive. It was not an iPad on a tripod. We will definitely use them again!"

"Paradise Photo Booth was a special part of my granddaughter's 13th birthday party. Jennifer was there early to get everything setup for the photos. There were hats, masks, giant sunglasses, and more props than you can imagine for fun photos with friends. The photos printed immediately, and we're given to the guests. There was also a special memory book provided by Jennifer so that the birthday girl had a collection of all the photos taken for the evening. i would high recommend Jennifer and Paradise Photo Booth. Even the adults in attendance got a chance for some silly photos. Jennifer really helped to make it a terrific party. Thanks Jennifer!"

"Martell Curd came to our facility to help us celebrate National Nurses Week and did an amazing job! His versatility in providing entertainment to our whole facility, from our 90 year old geriatric patients to our 18 year old CNAs was astounding. Everyone had a great time and are still talking about our celebration a week later. Major props to Martell Curd and his team for making our day so special and memorable! Also, the photo booth with props was a fantastic touch! The photographer was very sweet and did a great job. The pictures are hilarious! "

"The party was fun, but with PicMe Media Booth it was even better. Christopher and Quita were so much great! They knew how to bring out the animation in each person that stood in front of the camera. Have you ever seen a photographer Nae Nae? You probably will when you pick PicMe Photo Booth. We still go through the photos and reminisce about highlights of the party. The photo strips even matched the theme of the party. This was the best addition to the party and unforgettable. My guests and I have not ever experienced Slo-Mo before; it is very cool and unique to this area. I look forward to working with Christopher and Quita again in the future!"

"We were able to book The Fun Box Photo Booth TWO days before our wedding. Everything about The Fun Box Photo Booth was perfect. They have excellent prices, especially compared to other photo booth rentals. Did I mention that our event was held in Augusta, GA & they beat all local photo booth rental prices!!!! Their staff is very friendly, helpful & professional. If you decide to go with The Fun Box Photo Booth be sure to include the scrapbook, it captured the photo booth throughout the entire night and our guest were able to sign with their photo strip. Not the traditional guest book and we absolutely love it!!!!"

"Everything from start to finish was top notch. She was very professional and super sweet. I would highly recommend her to anybody that is wanting to rent a photo booth or for any other photography needs. The kids at Project Graduation just loved the booth and had the best time! They had fun will all the props and liked the fact that they could go back as much as they wanted to with different people and get their pictures made. The scrapbook was also a big hit and so was the keepsake photo strips. I will definitely use Shawn again, she was awesome!!"

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a photo booth rental?

A party photo booth is a fun, interactive experience where guests can take a series of photos (usually three or four) that are immediately printed out on a strip as a keepsake. When you rent a party photo booth, the company sets up the booth or photo station at your event; a photographer staffs the booth and coaches guests on how to use it throughout the event. Often the photo booth rental company provides props like silly hats, wigs and glasses. There are different types of party photo booth rentals. An open-air booth has a curtain or backdrop that allows more freedom of movement and enables more people to use it at one time. The traditional enclosed photo booths that you may have seen at the mall or the fair tend to cost more to rent, as they are harder to transport and also cost more for the pros to purchase. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500.

How much is it to rent a photo booth for a party?

Renting a party photo booth for your next event will get your guests engaged and provide a take-home favor for attendees. The cost to rent a party photo booth will vary depending on the type of booth, the day and time of year, the length of the rental, and any add-ons you select. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500. Here are some examples of average party photo booth rental costs:

  • Weekday packages: $300-$550, depending on features included and length of rental. A three-hour weekday package for $500 could include guest book, personalized photo strips and DVD of all the photos.
  • Weekend packages: $450-$700, depending on features included and length of rental.
  • Additional hours: $100-$150 per extra hour.
  • Add-on features:
    • Photo guest album services: $75.
    • Personalized photo strips: $30-$50.
    • Custom photo backdrops or vinyl skin branding of the booth: $150-$300.
    • Live social media connectivity (ability to share photos to social media accounts): $100-$250.

How do you make a wedding photo booth backdrop?

Creative or DIY-savvy couples can make a wedding photo booth backdrop in no time. You can ask your rental company to incorporate a custom backdrop into your rental party photo booth, or do your own custom photo booth with a friend serving as photographer. It’s easiest to make your own backdrop for an open air photo booth, which you can hang on a wall at an indoor reception, or hang from a tree or in a homemade frame at an outdoor reception.

One simple yet glamorous option is a tinsel curtain. Choose silver or gold for classic elegance, or go for a wild color like bright pink. For a more refined look, you can purchase three or four yards of a luxe fabric that fits your wedding color theme. Creative couples may want to get funky and spray-paint or hand-paint designs onto a cotton canvas backdrop. Don’t forget to provide props for your guests; the props are half the fun and encourage guests to get playful for the camera. Paint an oversized picture frame gold (don’t forget to take out the glass!) for your guests to hold up. Provide a chalkboard where they can write cute messages to hold in their photo, and colorful items from your costume box: think hats, wigs, funky sunglasses, and sequined accessories.
