FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have a strong art / graphic design background. I have always been a creative - craftsy-artsy person. I remember when the box of 64 count Crayolas came out -- I saved my allowance and was so excited when I had enough money to purchase! And then colored pencils appeared -- and paint pens .... Creating florals just came natural to me -- I was invited to be on the Alvin Christmas Home Tour in 2008. I decided to showcase Christmas in my home (which I designed) through the use of florals -- and thus began my business - which is becoming my retirement business.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
So many things that I create are popular right now - my Etsy store is booming. Everyone wants chalkboard signs - whether on canvas, or wood or for event table signs. My wood products are growing - I an recycling old cedar fence slats into anything imaginable. With regards to events - I provide florals and decor for weddings and showers and holiday parties.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I am currently in production with the planning of a large upcoming fall wedding - we've labeled 'Vintage Elegance". The bride has been wonderful to work with and her wedding just keeps evolving - what started out as shabby chic country has been more upscale elegance. While still incorporating a lot of rustic wood items - florals that have an antique appearance - woodsy vines, added 'glitz' and gold are kicking this event to upscale. Many items are already in production and complete so that they are being showcased in my vendor shows.
