Sharon and her team provided videography services for a wedding for my clients in October. As an event planner, i was quite impressed with her follow thru and commitment to my detailed time line. Her experience as a director and producer added a sence of flair to our experience with her you won't get with other videographers in the wedding industry. I would highly recommend her again when it comes to shooting a wedding.

On December 19, 2016 I married the love of my life, The weekend before my wedding I found myself without a videographer. I conducted a google search for local videographers and I immediately received three quotes. Sir. Patrick Pictures was within my budget and his website showcased his work. After speaking with him he agreed to travel over an hour to shoot my wedding ceremony and capture the memories of my special day. As he promised, without a signed contract or deposit he arrived at the church to shoot my wedding. As he promised, he videoed my wedding with two camera's. As he promised, my video arrived on time. The picture quality and the sound was excellent. The scene's that he shot captured the music, vows. tears and cheers. His work is outstanding and I would recommend him to anyone because of his integrity and professionalism. We will be calling on him for future events. Thanks, Sir. Patrick for making or wedding a TIME TO REMEMBER. ;-) #MeettheReynolds2015 Mr. & Mrs. Alex U. Reynolds

We hired Videographic as the videographer for our wedding (Nov 2016). Iheny and her staff are AWESOME. We (more so me than he) are very particular and spent extensive time vetting and reviewing potential companies. Iheny met and surpassed the mark of excellence. She listened to our vision for the memories of our day and captured them just as we desired. She always had a great disposition and was very easy going. I had 2 separate companies for photography and videography and both were able to seize the once in a life time moments for their respective parts. Trust this review and look no further, HIRE VIDEOGRAPHIC!

There are many videographers but few who could be considered artists at their work. Scott has amazing vision and understanding of the project, to not only bring your ideas to life, but to exceed your expectations as well. Obviously I'm a very happy customer.

First time using thumbtack, but needed a photographer for my daughter's headshots and didn't know how to find one in my area. Stumbled upon thumbtack and first person to respond was Christian with Faith Productions. I'm so glad we decided to use her. She knew exactly what we needed and delivered some amazing headshots! And our time together was a lot of fun! Excellent results by an excellent photographer! Highly recommend her!

While searching for a videographer to capture a large, group dance performance during the North Carolina Senior Games I found Ed Ader at ENS Productions and quickly realized that this was the folks I wanted to work with. As I was unable to attend, I trusted Ed to coordinate with the target group, show-up on time and get the footage. The services I requested included meeting members of the dance group prior to the show, videoing their performance (they happened to perform last) and recording the awards ceremony that followed the competition In every regard, it was a pleasure to work with friendly professionals like Ed and his team at ENS. They accomplished each task to perfection, were well received by the dancers, obtained some incredible footage and provided me with the unedited, finished product immediately thereafter. I'm pleased to have placed my trust in ED and ENS. And not only was I NOT disappointed, I feel it only justified to give them a raving and positive review. They got the job done and are a pleasure to work with!

5 stars is the very least I can rate Azande as a superb Videographer. He was way over my expectations, I hired him for my son's prom night and high school graduation. He blended the two days in such a very creative and professional way. I wish if I can share the link of the video he has done for my son as watching this video would explain how Azande is a remarkable videographer. He is very affordable just as well. I will hire him in all my coming listings Azza azza@azzahomes.com

Lone Star Wedding Photography by Clark Patterson is simply Amazing! How I found him 8 days before the big events and was willing to work with us every step of the way, is a blessing. He’s extremely professional and understanding. Very experienced in photography and knew exactly how to manage our requests. Very friendly as well as timely. Clark showed up before the scheduled time on both events I had booked and stayed till the end no matter how late the event ran. He did an outstanding job by capturing the moments in High Quality Resolution of both Video and Pictures. Thanks to him I was able to get some great pictures and footage from the Wedding Reception and Pre Wedding Reception. All my friends and family had nothing but good things to say about our photographer. He was very friendly and interacted with the guests while he took pictures. Made people feel comfortable and had all the right equipment. The video montage was great and the picture slideshow was superb. I’m extremely happy and so is the Bride! Thank you Clark for capturing our special moments in life. Thank you as well for being so understanding and adhering to all our requests with no hesitation. You are a joy to work with and I’ll definitely recommend you to all my friends and family. We look forward to working with you again in a distant future for upcoming events. I definitely say he’s a 5-star photographer and videographer that does great editing and slideshows. If you’re worried that you’re not going to find the right people to take quality pictures and/or video, then Clark is your guy! He truly delivers high quality with utmost professionalism.

Jenny did a wonderful job taking beautiful photos at our wedding! We did not have the budget to hire a videographer and Jenny even took some videos for us and made us an edited video/slideshow of photos on youtube so that we could share the video with all our families and friends. It was really special to be able to see ourselves on live video after the wedding especially when we didn't except this bonus from her. All of the photos and videos that she and her assistant took were very pretty and really captured the spirit and joy at our wedding. I'll be recommending her to my friends who are getting married soon!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

    • Package 1: $1,400
      • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
      • Two cameras with audio equipment.
      • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
      • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
    • Package 2: $1,800
      • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.
