So far I have only had three lessons with Jake and it has been a very positive and enriching experience. He seems very knowledgeable and adapts quickly to one's needs. I am looking forward to continuing with the weekly lessons and enjoy more and more playing the guitar.
As a busy executive and father of 4 I wasn't sure I would have the time or patience to start learning acoustic guitar. With Christophers impressive credentials I was worried it would be a waste of his talent. From the minute he walked into my home I felt comfortable and confident under his instruction. Chris is patient and an amazing instructor. He is sociable and fun to work with and he corrects you without be patronizing or critical. If you want the best at a reasonable price Chris is the only way to go.
I took lessons from Trevor Perrmann for about 3 years, and I have learned a lot. In that time, I had lessons from Trevor in Classical Guitar, Piano, Electric Guitar (everything from pop to jazz), and I also learned a lot about music theory. I've taken music lessons from 5 different teachers, and my lessons with Trevor were some of the most productive and fun in my life.
Guitar lessons with Noel through Reverb, fantastic! Super pleased:)
Amir teache my douther to play the guitar since the last year. My douter has a adhd problem, and amir with his spacial way found the right method to teach her to play. I want to mention that we try a few teacher before we get to amir, and the experience was not so good. For my douter the guitar lessons with amir are excellent experience.
I've attended two of Jim's classes in classical guitar and music theory. His knowledge of the history of classical guitar and the evolution of our musical system is impressive and interesting. The class is very challenging and far exceeds my expectations. I am sure I will refer to the texts and sheet music he provided for years to come as I continue my musical journey with classical guitar. Also, it's a joy to watch a guitar master demonstrate his craft; it's easier to play after having heard it played well.
Ive been studying with Chris for about 10 months and Im very happy with the progress Ive made. I decided to pick up the guitar a couple of years ago when I was working in Omaha. I took lessons for about a year and I learned the basics but I also picked up some bad habits. I took a job in Austin and after being here for 6 months I wanted to get started again. I found Chris on Thumbtack and Im glad I did. Chris tailors the lesson to what Im trying to accomplish instead of using a set routine for every student. Im 53 and my musical tastes and goals are different from his younger students. He also understands how I learn and gives me the right amount each week to challenge me but not frustrate me. I work and travel a lot so my practice time is limited some weeks. Even with the lack of time to devote to the guitar, Ive made tremendous progress in the months Ive been studying with Chris. I would recommend him to anyone who is serious about learning the guitar, either a beginner like me or a more advanced person looking to improve.
I wanted to take up Bass lessons and was looking for someone who provided Adult Guitar Lessons preferably with an in-home instruction delivery method in Austin. Well my buddy suggested I give Steve a try and I quickly signed up for a trial lesson. Fast forward to now and I have been taking bass lessons from Steve for more than a year and what's more, my 7 year old son has joined us in taking guitar lessons. Steve is phenomenal ! He's not only a great musician himself but he makes learning the guitar/bass fun and molds his classes according to what works best for you ! His methods are really good and that makes it easy for us, dad and son, to not only pick up techniques faster but also get a grasp on music theory faster. If you looking to learn the guitar/bass, look no further ! I am sure Steve will surpass all expectations that you might have from any instructor and yes, he is one of finest human beings that I have ever met !
Nick can play several different instruments fluently and is an amazing guitar player. He is also a really good instructor and does a great job of explaining the basics of guitar playing. Whether you are a beginner like me or more advanced and looking to improve you'd be hard pressed to find anyone better. He can hear in almost perfect pitch so whether it's vocals or instruments you're looking to learn you won't be disappointed. One thing I appreciate is that he's a no nonsense kind of teacher. He expects you to want to put in the necessary time and energy to improve. If you don't care enough to put in the effort then he won't hold your hand. He will make every effort to work out a schedule but if you flake or are not fully committed then he will not work with you. But if you are really serious about learning the guitar, keyboard, or vocals then you should definitely give him a call.
I have hired Matthew Ian for several parties, and events probably 5 or more and he always does an incredible job. Originality, reading the crowd and if you get to hear him sing and play guitar a whole different level of audible pleasure. Matthew has the experience and drive to perform.
I met Chris through a mutant friend when I was interested in learning guitar. From the very first lessons with Chris I learned firmly well how to play the guitar , finger and body positions, technic , music theory everything in a very disciplined manner. While he has a profound and stable classical background he was able to teach me almost every kind of music. I really enjoyed his lessons with him ,I would still be his pupil if had´nt to move for professional reasons.
I've been taking lessons with Dave going on 7 years now. We started with me knowing nothing about guitar to today where there are times when I'm playing something, I am truly astonished at my own skill level and how far I've come (but still so much to learn). This is in huge part thanks to Dave, and I'm only playing guitar as a hobby! So if you're looking for lessons and want to start from scratch like I did or an experienced guitarist at any level, Dave Wirth is your man. Stick with Dave, practice, practice, practice, and you'll be where you want to be as a guitarist. Peace out =)
Josh is an awesome teacher! I started taking lessons from Josh about 7 months ago as a total beginner on the guitar. In our intro lesson, he asked me what my goals were (basically sing and play at the same time!) and has done a really great job structuring our lessons around what I want to do. Josh packs a ton into our 30 minute lessons--we play out of the lesson book, learn chords, practice techniques, and he usually gives me a fun song to sing and play. He's really good at pushing me out of my comfort zone to try new things (blues improv!) and is always very patient and positive. Would highly recommend Josh for beginners or any skill level!
I've been a student under Paul Clancy for 4 years now. In that time he has taught me not only how to play chords on the guitar, but how to make music while playing. I started playing because I could sing but I wanted to do more, Paul showed me these amazing strumming patterns which brought the song I showed him to life. And when I told him I wanted to play classical guitar and audition with classical guitar for college (with the audition day being 9 months away and me having never played classical guitar before) he told me "It's going to be hard and focused work since we only have nine months, but I know that you can do it". He supported me through think and thin and taught me everything I needed to know. And nine months later I walked into my audition with confidence and made it into the classical guitar program at the University of North Texas. Paul is an excellent teacher and mentor, with years and years of training and experience under his belt, but he is also a wonderful friend who has guided me, and many others, to learning how to play classical guitar, acoustic or electric guitar, banjo and even ukulele and making beautiful music while playing. Paul is one of my greatest friends and one if the wisest and respected men I know. Thank you for all you've done Paul. :)
I am a raw beginner with guitar and Tom has shown great patience and provided encouragement. He started me out with the basic building blocks - left hand and fretting the notes and now is starting me with right had techniques. His assignments have challenged me and keep me practicing on the "edge," which is the most effective practice. I am building confidence and making progress.
David's been a wonderfully patient guitar teacher to our 7-year-old daughter. By designing lessons that provide her a real sense of accomplishment even early in the process, he has helped her maintain her early enthusiasm. He even went above and beyond by giving us practical, detailed and extremely helpful advice in choosing the best guitar for her needs (and our budget).
Steve has taken me from a beginner level to an advanced level of bass playing in under a year. His vast knowledge of both music theory and history is invaluable and gives him a unique insight on music. i have never asked a question that hasnt gotten a great answer. Perhaps his best quality is that he is actively trying to improve his own knowledge and skill and is very open to new ideas and ways of thinking
Eddie is an awesome guitar teacher. I hadn't touched a guitar since that one time in highschool when I tried to teach myself to play (you can guess how that went) and so I was pretty convinced I would be terrible at it, but after only a few months of lessons I have learned a lot and am having a lot of fun. I am an opera singer, voice teacher and pianist and started taking lessons so that I may accompany myself and perhaps my students in the future. Because of Eddie's flexible teaching style I am on my way to reaching that goal. He does a great job of catering each lesson to my needs in that moment. If I have trouble understanding or executing something he simply finds a different way to approach it. His passion not just for playing the guitar, but also for music in general including theory and exploring different genres makes lessons so engaging that they fly by. So much so in fact, that instead of 30 minutes we are now doing 45 each week. I highly recommend Eddie as a guitar teacher and look forward to many more lessons!
Jose is incredibly adept at explaining verbally & in action the basics, the theory behind & the practical application of what I wanted to learn. If you are a beginner, or a pro,Jose WILL make you a better player overall & give you the tools to cut new paths & grow exponentially. I came away with a lot more than I expected to & I will keep coming back.
I'm a beginner, but he has taught me so much in a short period of time that I have a renewed confidence. I'm 66 years old; he is patient and gives lots of praise. He would also be great for young people. When I found Thumbtack, I Googled "best guitar lessons in Georgetown". Thanks for your site. Janie Cundiff
