Plumbing Drain Repair
Extremely happy. Chase really knows what he's doing. During the course of a huge remodel, I've been through several contractors that have all been flakey and just did a terrible job. I was happy to finally find Chase who knows what he's doing and was able to resolve some real headaches for me. Chase was thorough in his explanation of the problems and gave me a very fair price for the huge amount of work to be done. He also has expertise in several different areas so I was able to hire him for different things. Would definitely recommend!Dec 11, 2016VerifiedEarth Concepts's reply
Although I am not a plumber by trade, I have extensive experience in water damage and remediation. I am so grateful to help clients especially when things have been done improperly in the past. I love helping clients resolve long term problems so that they do not occur again. We're looking forward to installing your flooring! And thanks again for the review Scarlett!
Chase did excellent work renovating my town house so I could sell it! From the very beginning he helped me understand and redefine the scope of the work needed and actually helped save me a lot of money I was going to spend on unnecessary repairs. He has a knack for finding creative solutions to problems that other contractors couldn't quite see. There were several bumps in the road and surprises along the way, and he did an excellent job of rolling with the punches to get back on track. His team worked exceptionally fast to fix major structural issues that other contractors told me would take much longer to fix. Lastly, the detailed written reports he gave me are invaluable for someone that is looking to eventually sell there home. I've never gotten reports like this from other work I've had done, I wish I had found Earth Concepts sooner so I would have a detailed technical report of all the work I've done on other projects! Highly recommended!Feb 19, 2019Verified
As a homeowner, contractors make me nervous and hesitant. Not just because of the cost although that is a major factor. But in terms of how will they treat your home during the project, and will they make your vision come to life. Chase is the contractor that literally cares about your home; your vision; and your concerns. Don't let his "Babyface" fool you! I am convinced that this young man is an old soul. Your concerns throughout the process are his and trust ,if your don't like something he and his fabulous "A-Team" will address the matter in a very professional manner. He stands by his mission of quality and cost-effectiveness. Chase does his best to make the project as stress-free as possible. For me, collaborating with him a la my vision and his expertise are adventures not projects, and we are now on the threshold of "Adventure #3" as he has been working on my home since last month. Chase is a premier remodel designer and I would request his insight and expertise on any future home project/adventure! Cheers, C.M.P.Apr 3, 2017Verified
The second WORST contractor I have ever had in my home in the 10 years I have owned it. Von Ach Remodeling & Design owned by Chase has been renamed to Earth Concepts since I hired him a week ago to the time that I am leaving this feedback. My project on Thumbtack was for 5 items. I was very specific on Thumbtack that a 2 story ladder was needed. No ladder was brought. The flashing on my front porch wasn’t even looked at or inspected for problem resolution. Perhaps because there was no ladder. A large mirror at normal height wasn’t hung because no hardware or tools were brought. My project on Thumbtack specifically said the mirror was ~125lbs. The only 2 items that were completed was grout in 3 very small areas and “adjusting” commode parts. Chase had to go to Home Depot to get “supplies”. My assumption is that he purchased a trowel for the grout and “super special blue painters tape that wasn’t like regular blue painters tape”, which I already had. Conveniently, the trip to Home Depot didn’t include picking up hardware to hang the mirror. He used my bucket to mix the grout in because he didn’t have a bucket. I provided the grout. He did a great job on the 3 very small areas applying the grout. Chase told me that the commode parts “were made by Kohler and shouldn’t be replaced unless broken”. Basically he didn’t want to replace the parts with the new replacement parts I had already purchased. 1 day after he left, the commodes were back to not working again. Upon inspection the parts are mostly all plastic. “Made by Kohler”? I think not. I accepted his bid based on his proposal of $60 per hour. At the last minute he emailed me asking if he could bring a 2nd person for $20 more per hour to complete the job faster. I agreed. The 2nd guy stood around and kept Chase company or fetched a few items for Chase. Basically a wasted $20 per hour. Not only was I charged the $80 per hour, I was also charged for the time it took him to go to Home Depot for supplies he should have brought with him based on my detailed project on Thumbtack. He also charged me a mark-up on the couple of items he purchased at Home Depot. Basically I got ripped off for $240 for ~ 30 minutes of actual work.Nov 7, 2016VerifiedEarth Concepts's reply
Folks, to respond to this review with diplomacy and respect is a very difficult challenge for me. We did everything we could for this man to make him happy. Let me paint you the picture here.. This man owns a condo close to downtown off of S. Lamar that is three stories tall, it's value is around $750,000 to $1,000,000. This man insisted to us that we wear disposable booties in the house and to throw the old ones away and put on new ones before entering the house. It wasn't muddy, nor was it wet, and we stood at no risk of getting the floor dirty. In addition, even if we were to take our shoes off and wear socks, he wanted us to wear these little disposable booties over our socks. Get the picture? We politely complied. The work he hired us for was for fixing the toilets, hanging the mirror, looking at flashing for a more accurate quote, and to look at the outside of the house to give him an estimate on fixing stucco cracks, chips, and leaks (as it was causing water damage) and painting the entire condo complex. A very large 30-$40,000.00 job.. We worked as quickly and efficiently as we could to fill in the small seams in the grout a previous contractor had (in his words) FORGOTTEN.. Later we found out the other contractor just left and never came back.. Hmmm I wonder why.. My helper was there to bring me fresh water and fresh sponges to make sure the grout came out PERFECTLY, as I knew this man would not settle for less. He even admits that we did a very good job on the grout! In fact, when we went to Home Depot, we bought a NEW BUCKET, and that is the one we left him with because it was cleaner.. And all the while, this man is hovering over us checking on us every 5 minutes making sure the work we did was quality.. (It always is) AND he wanted us to "fix" the toilets.. It turns out they were not broken, and he felt they were not filling up as fast as they used to.. (still working) And IN FACT, the parts that he wanted to replace WERE Kohler-brand-specific parts!!! And he had purchased a cheap replacement kit from Home Depot. It is a valuable lesson learned for me. No matter how hard you try to make people happy in business, you will not win them all. And what is worse, this man acted as though he was happy with all the work the entire time, shook our hands, and said thank you. He did not protest or talk to me about any of these concerns. The plans were for us to come back but I had to find a ladder tall enough to reach the 3rd story of his condo. So I was looking into buying a 40ft ladder just for him or finding one of my subs that has a ladder that tall. And he even agreed to have me come back in a day or two to finish the outside work! All of it totally leading me on. And after I had already scheduled more guys to come do the immediate work on the outside of the house with a really tall ladder, he says he was unhappy with everything. 95% of my clients love the work I do, and find that I am fast and efficient, and do it right the first time. This man did not get ripped off. He is IMPOSSIBLE to make happy. I feel bad for him as well as the other people he hires to come do jobs.. Because there are contractors out there who are not as forgiving as I am. And there are others who this man would completely extort. You can't win them all! And yes, we feel proud to have chosen and incorporated our business under the name Earth Concepts. We feel this name represents our goals, and aims for the future well as we are expanding to build in green energy efficient ways! And we are grateful to all the wonderful clients that have supported us and been grateful for all of our hard work and dedication to excellence. Best, Chase H. - What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I usually charge between 50 and 60 dollars per hour. There's no project I'm unfamiliar with.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I like to clearly discuss their needs and figure out cost, then provide the service as accurately as I can.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I've been in construction and technology since I was 12 years old.
