I've been taking lessons from Gretchen for almost a year. She is a great teacher and I have learned a lot. I would recommend her to anyone wanting to learn about riding horses or taking care of horses.

I have been taking lessons at Sterling Hunter Jumpers Stable for over a year. I have loved every minute of it and have grown so much in my riding ability during this short period of time. My 8 year old daughter has also taken lessons and attended their summer camp. She loves going to Sterling! As a parent, I 100% trust that my daughter is in good hands. The owners, Erin and Johnny, are extremely knowledgeable and always have each rider's safety and best interest in mind. Sterling has riders of all levels and Erin works diligently to train each rider based upon their individual skill level. She truly cares about her students and goes above and beyond for them. Erin and Johnny take amazing care of all animals on the property. This level of care is exemplified by the top quality of the horses that are used for lessons. They are not typical "lesson horses". Sterling horses are well trained, safe and teach their riders how to be better equestrians. There are different horses for all riding levels. Erin works with each rider to pair them with the perfect horse for their abilities. Sterling has a very friendly and welcoming environment that makes coming to the barn a nice escape from the daily grind. I could go on and on listing many more reasons why Sterling is a great place to ride. But in a nutshell, if you're looking for a well run barn with knowledable trainers that keep safety and progression of equestrian skills as their top priority, this is the place for you!!

Silvia has a unique and meticulous training style that has the ability to keep riding techniques fresh and natural. Her attention to detail adds a personalized quality to the material during training. One of the most impressionable qualities is the attention to the horse’s body language and movement. As well as, how the rider corresponds with the horse. Silvia is very driven and motivated, with the ability to help all riders find and reach their goals.

I wanted to try riding on an English saddle, since my only experience riding was on western (cowboy) saddle. The experience I had was just the right balance of instruction and freedom to relax and spend time with the horses. I left my lesson feeling relaxed and comfortable with knowing I could handle an English riding saddle. Two days later the realization hits you that horse back riding is most assuredly exercise :-)

Danielle met with my daughter and I for horseback riding lessons and was a pleasure to be with. She was professional, communicative, and kept the safety of my daughter and I at the forefront of every lesson. She is focused on the experience one has on the horse and is very patient with her students. My daughter and I had a wonderful time and I am grateful for the bonding we shared during our rides with Danielle.

Angel with Austin Trail Rides took the time to do a mini training session with my kids before we went on a trail ride, one of my kids had never been on a horse before! It was such a fabulous experience that when my youngest was old enough we took him to ride ponies with her!!

I have been riding with Beth for about 6 months. She is fantastic. She challenges me and my horse during our lessons and has helped us to become a better team. Beth knows what her students and their equine partners need. She has a keen eye and always keeps it interesting. I highly recommend her for both advanced riders as well as beginners! Adults and children too! So happy I found her.

My oldest daughter has been taking lessons at Creekwood for 3 years now, and I couldn't be happier. She was so timid when she started, and Laurel (owner and head trainer) has known just when to push Anna and when to let her take her time. She's so much more confident now, not just in her riding ability. The atmosphere at the barn is really relaxed and laid back. You can tell that the happiness and health of both the horses and the girls who ride there are Laurel's #1 priority. There's zero snobbery and there's a great camaraderie: the girls aren't overly competitive toward each other. This summer, my younger daughter stated taking lessons with Abbey, who offers private lessons to all beginners until they've acquired the skills to join one of Laurel's group lessons. It's fantastic to have one-on-one attention with your horse while you're just starting out. Creekwood's lesson and lease prices are extremely reasonable as well. I wouldn't have my daughters ride anywhere else.

    About

I am brand-new to the Austin area. I'm looking to make connections in the equine world and begin teaching lessons here in Texas. I moved from New Jersey, where I taught horseback riding at Fairview Lake YMCA Camp for 2 years, competed in dozens of hunter/jumper and cross-country competitions and been around horses since I could walk. Sadly, I had to leave my horse behind in New Jersey due to his blindness. I didn't want to put him through the stress, and so I do require that my students have a horse to ride; however, I am completely willing to travel to you. I teach all levels, from beginner to advanced. With beginners, I always start with horse care, proper horse safety, and of course, proper riding techniques. Throughout teaching, I also include parts of the horse, colors, markings, and other horse knowledge. For intermediate and advanced riders, I teach proper hunter/jumper etiquette for English riders as well as reigning, barrel racing, and other rodeo sports for Western riders. Since I am still new to Austin, I don't know the competitions around here, and so I won't be able to bring you to competitions right off the bat myself, but I would definitely like to enter the competition world in the future. As a horseback rider for 17 years, I eat, sleep, and breathe horses. I wish every day that I could have brought my horse down here with me, but as I mentioned above, I didn't want to stress him out on the trip. Here's a little about him. He's a 35-year-old, blind rescue horse from Colorado. I've had him for about 7 years now, and I miss him and riding dearly. Due to a foot injury, I haven't been able to ride, but I would absolutely love to teach lessons to get the smell of horse back into my clothes.
