- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Being a licensed contractor I have to do 8 hrs of continuing education every year before the TDLR will issue my new license. I think it's a good thing and you can never have have to much knowledge on your trade! Like I have mentioned before...this is a trade that is constantly changing and you must stay on top of it! This trade has changed so much from when I first started and is getting better but much more sophistacated with the solid state controls to new chlorine free refrigerants its just a must that you stay in tune with the mechanical and technical aspects of this industry.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My father was an Air Conditioning Heating & Refrigeration Contractor for over 50 yrs and I started working with him at the age of 15. I learned a lot from him and I also continued my education at UTI which is a trade school for hvac & refrigeration and I obtained all the certifications in this field I could.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Service & Repair and complete installation of residential Central Air Conditioning and Heating Systems. Also Installation of Ice Machines......Building walk in coolers and freezers......Installing the refrigeration equipment....hanging the evaporator coil running the refrigeration lines....setting the condensing unit.....installing the controls as in defrost time clocks...high and low pressure cut out's.....fan cycling controls for low ambient conditions.....mounting thermostats.....soldering in solenoid valves and thermostatic expansion valves.....setting super heat and subcooling and also wiring all the controls in.....evacuating system and start-up. Then after the system is up and running the subcooling and superheat must be set accurately for proper operation. These are alot of the things we deal with on a daily basis
