Introduction: Karina Akhavan born and raised in the Hill Country, spent her early childhood years in the back of restaurants. Growing up with both parents in the food industry and having a love for the arts, it seemed natural for Karina to follow suit. Karina graduated from Culinary School in 2004. Fast forward 12 years she has done it all. Working in multi-million dollar hotels, catering on movie sets, to mom and pop bakeries. Along the way grabbing Zagat’s 30 under 30! Now a mom of three Karina knows how hectic life can get. One of her main missions is creating a stress free environment when planning your special day. Leaving the middle man out dealing directly with the chef/owner, as well as promptly responding with any of your concerns or needs. The best part is watching people enjoy the baked goods. I firmly believe in baking everything fresh, that's really what makes my cakes different than other bakeries. Most of my wedding cakes are less than 24 hrs old when they are served. You can't beat that!

Hookt Bakery is incredible!! Karina made both the groom's cake and the wedding cake and my guests couldn't stop talking about it! My husband is a musician and she designed the cake with piano keys to represent his work, but the amazing design did not compromise the taste one bit. My wedding cake was a thing of beauty, accented in silver leaf and flowers that matched my bouquet. We had the chocolate cake for the groom and Italian wedding cake for mine, but unlike many wedding cakes, ours was gone by the end! What's more, I gave Karina very little direction and she asked the right questions to be sure she was representing us as a couple and took that feedback to make something I didn't even realize was possible. Thank you Hoot!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Yes, all my pricing is on my website. Cake prices are broken down for single or tiered cakes, with portion sizes allocated to each size.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Most weddings I suggest a consultation/tasting in order to figure out exactly what the customer is wanting. There we can go over all the details for their big day. It also gives us a chance to meet in person so that they know they're in good hands.
