Both of my kids (now 12 and 16) have taken lessons with Anna for years. While teaching the basics, what really has kept them playing is the creativity and fun that Anna encourages. In addition to theory and classical pieces, they can learn songs they choose, experiment with songwriting and chord progressions, and team up with other players (even on other instruments) for performances. Anna is passionate about teaching and the Music House provides a stress-free environment where students are encouraged to grow and contribute to what they want to learn.

Anna Larson provides high quality, thoughtful music instruction to each student. Whether you are a youth or adult, a beginner or returning musician, she listens and plans lessons to keep learning fun and engaging. She incorporates technology which my kids loved!

Anna was my daughter's piano teacher for 9 years. We will forever be grateful for this experience. Anna treats every one of her students with patience and guidance. We would do it all again because Anna really is that fabulous. And for the icing on the cake: her music is beautifully incredible.

My son started taking piano with Anna when he was 13, after his previous teacher moved away, and he stayed with her until he graduated high school! I can't recommend her enough for working with teens. It can be hard to keep kids in piano as they get older and busier, but she helps them find the music they will love to play and customizes the focus to what they are excited to work on. My son came a long way with Anna in 5 years, and plays every day just for pleasure, which is a big win! She even helped him prepare audition tapes for college scholarships!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My typical hourly rate is $75. I offer discounts to students who sign up for a semester's worth of piano lessons in the fall/spring (16 lesson for each semester). I also offer discounts to students who pay tuition by the semester vs paying monthly.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I offer a free meeting/sample lesson where we can ask/answer questions and generally make sure we are a good student/teacher fit. Students secure their lesson spot with me by reading/signing our studio policy and submitting their first month's tuition and receiving a confirmation of their lesson slot. It is very important to me to understand both specific and general goals that my new students have so that I can begin planning lessons that support them.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I hold Bachelors and Masters degrees in piano performance and pedagogy from the University of Texas at Austin. I have been teaching piano since 1997. I am also a performing singer/songwriter, as well as playing piano/keyboards in a variety of genres (classical, accompanying vocalists/instrumentalist, and playing everything from country to blues/rock to Americana in bands)
