I was not impressed, as I felt like they just wanted my money. Each week, we’d just sing songs that I’d get to pick. We never went over proper singing techniques, how to bridge the gap in singing, etc. I felt like no progress was made because nothing was ever taught. I found a cheaper instructor who’s much more knowledgeable elsewhere."See more

She then shared with me that she had just hired a piano instructor who specialized in jazz piano and wished to match me with him as soon as he had completed his required onboarding. In the meantime, she asked if I would have a session today with another one of her instructors (Amy) who she believed would definitely be able to assist me in the short-term - while I waited a couple weeks for her new jazz piano instructor. Amy S. was amazing. Took my unscheduled lesson with less than two hours notice. She was punctual, polite, responsive, and confident that she could help me. And she proceeded to thoroughly guide me through piano solo parts for 4 charts that I needed to get under my hand for tomorrow night’s big band rehearsal. I’ve sat with several online instructors. I've been a music teacher for 30 years now. It's been the most rewarding thing that I've ever done in my life! For 25 of the years I taught in California & always had anywhere from 80 to 120 students a week. I was soooo busy that I was able to higher several of my students to help me teach & paid them better than any summer job they could find. It was so much fun! I specialize in children but I have plenty of adults come in for lessons in the evenings. Usually the parents are so impressed with how well their children are doing that they want to learn as well. I've turned out a very successful amount of pro musicians that reside in Nashville, Los Angeles & New York. Heck, I've got several students that are even better than me now! Looks like I did my job right! I ask of only 2 things from my students. That they be accountable for their lessons & on time! That they are teachable as well. If I give my student their homework, I expect them to work it everyday up until the next week when we meet again for the following lesson. I then can make a solemn guarantee to those particular students that I can have them doing things on their instruments in 1 to 2 months that they never dreamed of!
