We hired Michael to help us establish a compelling branded narrative for our new fintech startup, and he did an amazing job. And in consideration for the fact that I knew nothing about what he does, he really helped bring me up to speed fairly quickly on everything, and educating me in the process. I would have liked more time devoted to competitive analysis, but we were on a limited budget, so he put together something short and sweet to help make it work. He's very transparent in the early beginnings, which was a big help when I was basically losing my mind and trying to keep calm while we were trying to get everything moving. I had the chance to work with Michael on a number of occasions, and he is always spot-on with great strategy, content and ideas. I especially think he is a gifted writer and problem-solver, and is probably one of the more resourceful people I've worked with in recent memory. He's very well-versed for digital engagements, including copywriting, content strategy, and certain types of transaction content and micro-copy. My only criticism is that he no longer lives close to me, so I can't meet with him face to face. But he's wonderful to work with regardless.Sep 11, 2015
Michael seems to have a real knack for solving tough problems, and I think of all the people I've worked with in recent memory, he's probably the most resourceful in terms of getting down to the nitty gritty of finding out what needs to be done in order to make creative projects work. Michael is currently editing my lastest book in preparation for its release, as well as planning a detailed strategy to maximize its visibility and success. I cannot be more delighted by his professionalism, his insightfulness and pleasant attitude. He is a true marketing expert. The content of the book is mine but its success will belong to Michael. - What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?For paying clients in the U.S., U.K., E.U., Hong Kong and other Western countries, my pricing system is very uncomplicated. With all signed agreements, I require a 50 percent deposit on all work, with all copyright ownership of content transferred to you upon final payment. I quote by the hour or by the project, depending on parameters, deadlines, etc. I do not accept projects without a signed contract and deposit upfront.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?My process involves requirements gathering, usually by interviewing the client and any relevant stakeholders that they wish for me to speak with. From there, I develop a Creative Brief, followed by sample messaging. Once we have agreement on both, I scale the rest of the project accordingly.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?"Continuing education" is mandatory, but not so much from the standpoint of re-enrolling in school. There is so much information available on the web these days that it's next to impossible to keep up with it all. It's important to seek out and understand important issues as they relate to my core work, but I don't try to keep up with it all because it's just too overwhelming.
