About Lk Bookman Yoga

Are you seeking a natural, holistic approach to stress relief, increased flexibility and strength building in a safe, comfortable environment? If so, please read on to learn more about the services I offer.

Beginning a yoga practice can seem daunting, but it is accessible to all ages, fitness levels and lifestyles if you have the right teacher. I believe in a balanced approach to yoga. Learning about your needs and physical structure allows me to develop a practice that is most appropriate and beneficial for you.

During your yoga session, I will focus on breath-centered movement to release tension in your body and help increase internal awareness. I help students develop self-compassion and provide them with tools to take off their mats and into their daily lives. One of my greatest strengths as a teacher is the ability to adapt and modify yoga postures for a your specific needs.

As a practitioner of yoga asana, pranayama and meditation for more than 15 years, I've had the opportunity to develop a well-rounded practice myself, and became Yoga Alliance certified at the 200-hour level in 2010. Since then, I have completed more than 160 hours of additional training in yoga anatomy with Lesilie Kaminoff and dvanced yoga therapy training for anxiety disorders & PTSD.

Lk is an excellent yoga teacher. She combines traditional yoga approaches with a really down to earth teaching style that literally any body can do. If you want to learn technique, she is the right choice. She also introduces some yoga philosophy. I found her classes to be very comforting and welcoming.

Question and answer

Q. Describe three recent jobs you've completed.

A. I've taught corporate yoga classes for Harcourt, Speech Pathologists, and Hart elementary school teachers. I also teach private sessions twice weekly for an Austin couple.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Find out if the instructor is certified and in what modality or style of yoga. It's also important to know what style of yoga the instructor regularly practices and if he or she attends workshops or continuing education.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. You don't have to be flexible or fit to practice yoga, but continued practice will steadily increase your flexibility and stamina. We all started as beginner's at one point!

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Are you certified by the Yoga Alliance and in what modality? Do you specialize in a particular style of yoga? What is your experience teaching? I am certified with Yoga Alliance at the 200-hour level and have taught hatha, yin, hatha flow and vinyasa styles of yoga for more than two years. I have been practicing yoga for more than twelve years in the Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Hatha traditions.
