Craig is the best. No BS, no overhyped lingo or salesmanship. Just straight to the point solutions. He repaired our Dryer and Fence in exactly the manner he described over the phone and was a joy to talk with. Hands down, the best service provider I've EVER worked with.

You can only have good things to say about a company that finishes the job on Wednesday, then unexpectedly comes back the next morning to add a few finishing touches that were briefly discussed the day before. Upon mentioning that I was not happy with the difference in the shading of the stain on the fence, Jamesray immediately said, I can spray it again and take care of that. This man spent almost an hour finishing up three small things that were very minor and I had not expected but made a very satisfied customer. This company also picked up another job in the neighbor Wednesday while they were working on my fence. Need I say more. Would recommend this company to anyone wanting a job well done.

Craig was amazing to work with! He and his associate got the job done on our 51ft fence in five hours. It looks amazing! We have a neighbor with a retaining wall and they made the fence seamless with the change in yards. On top of it all, it was very affordable compared to many others I looked into. I highly recommend using Craig!

Good Prices, Professional & Friendly I had a tree that the trunk split a half on my house hours before a wind storm was to hit our area. I called Stanley and he was able to come and cut the tree before the big branches fall down. Although the wind storm was on the way, he was very careful of bushes, flowers and sprinkler heads in the flower bed below. He got the tree cut off and didn’t cause any other damage to house or yard in the process, another company had told me that they couldn’t get to me until the next two or three days, the wind with the storm would have torn up the roof and the fence if the tree had still been there. I also have Stanley scheduled to do a portion of my fence while he's here, and he was also did an excellent job as well. His prices are good, he is professional, and friendly. I will also use him in the future and recommend him to everyone.

I really love my new fence, it looks so nice. My old fence was really old and ugly. Great guys that came and completed the work within a reasonable amount of time. You should give them a try!!

I do alot of my own gardening, but I wanted some landscaping and needed a new fence. Eric was great! His ideas are fantastic, he really Really knows his plants and soils, and he reuses what he can (always asking it is ok to reuse this or that before doing it). His estimates do come in a bit slow, but I've done alot of price comparisons (even against DIY) and his estimates are always very reasonable (and low). He builds/plants to last, not just look pretty for a season, and uses soils and hardy plants that won't need constant upkeep. I'd use him again in a heartbeat.

We needed a fence for a big yard on a not so big budget... Kasey and Michael of HomeRun Fencing made that possible! From the beginning we knew they were the ones who were going to build our fence. From communication to installation we had zero worries. They answered every question we had promptly and in detail so we were not surprised by anything. They got the permit, called 811, and brought all of the materials. I just had to sit back and watch! When it came to installation, they were there when they said they would be and even finished sooner than I thought was possible. And the final product is better than I could have ever imagined! Just look at that beautiful backyard! If you need a fence, this is the company to choose! Trust me!

Mitchell Lowery has completed multiple jobs for us over the years from replacing carpeting with wood floors, to outside decking to painting, to building us a laundry room, tile work, etc. There just doesn't seem to be anything he can't do and his work is outstanding. We trust him completely with everything concerning our house. We would not hire anyone else. We refer him as often as we can especially after friends come over and see his work. You want good, quality work from someone who knows what they're doing, hire Mitchell Lowery.

We are very pleased with our new privacy fence. Shane stayed in communication with us each step of the way, just to keep us up to date on where they were at and any issues there may have been with the next step. He was easy to get a hold of when I had questions and was very professional. I think him and his guys built a fence for our family that will last for many years to come.

Eddie Rollins and his team did a great job on our fence. Everything is straight, sharp, even height, and clean. The fencing crew showed up in well-maintained vehicles, looked and acted professional, went about their job quickly and efficiently, and cleaned up thoroughly every day when they were done. They showed care and respect for our property. Eddie explained the process before they started, and communicated with us during the job. He also coordinated the payment for shared fence lines with the neighbors. CMC made the process as easy and painless as they possibly could, and we couldn't be happier with the fence. We had lower bids but went with a reputable, BBB-accredited member, and I am glad we did. I would not hesitate to recommend them for a fence or a roof.

I enjoyed having Silva Home Service do some work to my fence/gate. They were very quick and efficient from start to finish. This includes the promoters of coming out to give me an estimate to the completion of the job. Will recommend them and hire them again.

Dave is wonderful! We just moved to Texas from California and had a fiberglass pool installed. We were so excited until the pool was done and we saw the devastation that was left to our yard. We had multiple companies come out, big and small. We decided on City Landscaping because Dave was up front and honest about what was needed and we truly felt like he was invested in our yard. We were right! Him and his team did a wonderful job! Now we have a backyard that we love!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much is a redwood fence per foot?

A redwood fence is a long-lasting home investment that can add beauty and major curb appeal to your home. Redwood fence installation costs are higher than those for pressure-treated pine or cedar, due to the relative scarcity of the wood. Pricing can vary for redwood fence installation costs based on regional labor rates, current prices of redwood planks, the height and linear feet of the fence, and any custom designs or features. Redwood fences, in addition to being beautiful, are naturally more resistant against bugs and rot than less hardy or dense woods. Redwood fences also generally fare well in wet or humid climates due to their natural oils — which also make them easier to maintain. Materials costs per linear foot for redwood planks can range anywhere from $6 to $20 or more, depending on grade, quality and height.

How much does it cost to put up a chain-link fence?

Chain-link fence is one of the most affordable options for adding safety and value to your home or business. The national average chain-link fence installation cost is $2,750. Chain-link fences are relatively simple for the pros to install; a fence of less than 150 linear feet can often be put up in under one day. A good rule of thumb is to add an additional workday for each additional 100 linear feet of fence to be installed.

Chain-link fence installation costs are affected by the fluctuating cost of steel, regional labor rates, the height of fence you select, and the features you select, such as a powder-coated finish. The industry standard is galvanized steel, which is rust- and corrosion-resistant. Galvanized chain-link fence installation cost, including labor and materials, is typically $12 per linear foot. For a more contemporary and elegant option, black powder-coated galvanized chain-link fence might cost approximately $15 per linear foot on average, including materials and labor. For industrial sites or businesses, 10-foot-high galvanized chain-link fences may provide additional security, but also have an added cost. A 10-foot-high chain-link fence could cost $17-$18 per linear foot, including labor and materials.

How much does it cost to install a vinyl fence?

A new fence can mean added home value, increased curb appeal, and improved home security. The national average vinyl fence installation cost is $4,600. Vinyl fences have a number of appealing qualities such as their durability, their lasting good looks (they don’t weather like wood does), their versatility, and the fact that they require little to no maintenance such as staining. Fencing companies typically charge per linear foot for vinyl fence installation. They calculate their estimates based on materials to be used, height of fence, linear feet of the proposed fence, and the accessibility of the terrain. If the workers need to level the land before work begins, your vinyl fence installation costs will probably increase. Vinyl fences are typically more expensive than wood or chain-link. For example, one company might charge $19-$22 per linear foot for a basic 6-foot vinyl privacy fence. Another company might charge $25-$35 per linear foot for standard vinyl fencing, while decorative fencing with custom detail could increase that cost to $50 per linear foot. For a 6-foot-high white vinyl privacy fence with two walk-through gates (plus demolition and disposal of the old fence), the cost of the total project could run $8,000. A 4-foot-high, 36-linear-foot white picket vinyl fence with one gate could cost $2,600.

How much does it cost to install a wood fence?

Help define your property line, protect your home and yard, and boost your curb appeal with a new wood fence. The national average for wood fence installation cost is $3,250. Wood fence installation costs will vary based on your geographic location, the type of wood you select, the height and style of wood fence you desire, and the condition of your property. Pressure-treated pine is a common and attractive choice that is usually resilient against rot and bugs. Cedar is another budget-friendly option that, although more expensive than pressure-treated pine, can be more affordable than redwood or teak. A wood fence requires maintenance to ensure its long-term health and beauty, so keep future staining and painting costs in mind when you’re calculating fence installation costs. Here are some examples of how height and material affect the approximate cost of wood fences:

  • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $15-$17 per linear foot.
  • 4-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $13-$20 per linear foot.
  • Cedar fence: $18-$25 per linear foot.
  • 6-foot-high, double-sided (meaning both sides are uniform), pressure-treated pine fence with 6x6 posts: $25 per linear foot.
  • 12-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with custom detailing: $75 per linear foot.
  • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with a custom lattice top: $30-$50 per linear foot.

How much does it cost to install a fence gate?

Adding a gate to your fence can be a practical way to provide access to a yard, work area or outdoor living space while ensuring safety and privacy. Gate installation costs will vary based on the gate material you select, the size of your gate, whether you install a fence at the same time, and any special features you’d like to add. Standard opening size for a single-wide gate is 4 feet; a double-wide gate is 8 feet. A small gate may be for decoration; a double-wide gate can be mounted on a rolling caster system to allow access for cars or wide loads. Here are some examples of average fence gate installation costs:

  • 4-foot, single-swing chain-link gate: $100 for materials and installation costs.
  • 28-foot wheeled chain-link gate on a caster system: $800-$1,000 for materials and installation costs.
  • 4-foot, single-swing wood gate: $75.
  • 8-foot double-wide wood gate: $150.
  • 4-foot white vinyl walk-through gate: $300–$400 for materials and installation costs.
  • 8-foot, double-wide white vinyl gate: about $800 for materials and installation costs.
  • White vinyl gate fence more than 8 feet wide: $1,200-$1,500 for materials and installation.
  • Arched black powder-coated aluminum pool gates: $175-$200 per gate.
