Introduction: I am an individual and couple's counselor with experience treating a wide range of life issues. Life impacts each of us uniquely, but the universal truth is that our proactive engagement in life will lead to the most fulfilling outcome. The choices we make or choosing to not make a choice impacts both the direction and enjoyment we experience. Many people try to sustain life by avoiding change. The subsequent stress inflates or creates depression and anxiety which can snowball into even larger issues. Active participation in both recovery and life will help minimize or eliminate many of the issues that arise in our lives. My couples counseling approach centers around communication and the underlying emotions. Often couples get caught in a cycle of negative communication getting tangled in the words. However, our language is reactive and can be unrepresentative of the actual message being conveyed. Learning to understand each persons perspective in a respectful caring way leads to the ability to overcome the roadblocks preventing a happy relationship.
