Can’t recommend WM Mivers enough. They’re communication is excellent and prompt, they were running late due to another job but called well in advance to let me know and continued to update me throughout the wait time. Really amazing scheduling- my other movers cancelled and I was stressed about finding something last minute but they squeezed me in with less than 24 hours notice! Really amazing guys and excellent customer service. They are transparent about their fees and there were no surprises when it was time to pay. Super competitive prices without sacrificing quality and customer care. Will absolutely use them again and refer them to all my friends!

I will recommend Texas Elite Moving to everyone I know. They were the only moving company that offered to do a free at home estimate. After the move, it was clear that Shane was dead on the money. The estimate was accurate in terms of the amount of packing supplies we would need and how long the move would take. She was exactly right on both. The gentlemen who showed up (Chris, the owner, being one of them) were fast, careful and extremely professional. Even when I started to chat with them, they continued to move fast and work hard. They were extremely careful with my belongings and there was no damage to furniture and/or either of the houses I moved from or to. I've found that most movers are either careful and slow, or not careful and fast. Not Elite - they were careful and fast. Most of the all, the price was very reasonable. I couldn't believe how inexpensive it was to move a 3 bedroom house! There were other movers I looked at that were much more expensive, and they had terrible reviews. Texas Elite Moving is the only smart options if you are moving in Texas. I will be recommending them to everyone I know!!!

Superb service through and through. Called last minute to move the day after Christmas. No problem. Discussed 2 or 3 movers, no pressure to get 3 but chose that to accelerate moving. All three professional, courteous and expert movers. Large move but no dents, breaks nor scratches. Some of the best service I have received and recommend them without question. Cost was very reasonable as well. Thanks N&D!

One of the best in Business. I am going to list all that I like about Bellhops: 1. Professionalism From the way they set you up, the timely updates, the movers getting in touch with you, till they get done and you end up paying them, everything about Bellhops feels professional. They act like the Uber/Lyft service for movers. 2. Price One of the best price offered in the hiring market. 100$/hour for 2 men is very appealing and on top of it they don't have the annoying 2-hour limit followed by most movers (such as Belle-Movers, whom I hired previously). For apartment moving, about 1-hour is rightly sufficient. Most of the payment is dealt by the parent office, so no haggling with the actual movers. This allows respectful negotiation with the hard-working movers. The other good part about them, is their 15 min extension pricing after the regular one-hour. This removes any fear of the move extending over 1-hour limits. 3. Movers The actual Bellhop movers I have dealt with so far (4 of them in total) have been extremely professional, hard-working men. They are generally very patient and helpful. More than anything these men are professional movers , on-time, right on task men. The only thing they can improve here is the duty of the lead mover. Instead of wasting time lifting trash cans and other petty stuff, the lead can interact more with the customers, and guide the move towards heavy-lifting through the duration of the move. The first time I hired them, they spent about 15 mins moving petty stuff (trash cans, cloth basket etc). By the 2nd hire, I requested them to leave the lighter stuff to me and my family and directed them to lift heavy stuff which they duly obliged. 4. Flexibility These people understand there could be possible delays in the move and accommodate upto 30 mins delays(and sometimes even 1 hour). This was extremely helpful. On top of this I could also make reasonable last minute changes to the moving location. They willingly accommodated this change. I can definitely see Bellhops ruling the professional moving market for years to come.

Todd and Josh were outstanding in helping me solve a problem moving a couch upstairs. Previous movers had been unable to accomplish this. My staircase is small and the second floor ceiling is low. Todd and Josh were able to hoist the couch over the second floor balcony, then maneuver it past a challenging set of doors to the location I wanted it. This involved temporarily removing two heavy wood doors. I recommend them both.

I’ve moved several times in my life with several different movers. 1Source beats them all by far! I shopped around a lot for my move from Texas to Kentucky, 1source wasn’t the lowest bid but one of the most reasonable. Andy handled the booking process. He’s a very personable fellow, fun to talk with and put me at ease during a stressful time. When his crew showed up they were super friendly and polite ... really swell guys. They started quickly, assessed the task, asked a few questions and got right to work. They moved fast and worked great as a team. They really hustled! They wrapped everything, dismantled furniture, were very careful and caused no damage to walls or floors. This was a long distance move that had to be timed just right. They stayed in contact with us and arrived a half hour after us ... perfect timing. The move in was just as efficient. No scratches or dings on our stuff. These guys are excellent. Look no further.

Caleb and his coworker were PHENOMENAL. Not only were they extremely professional and fair, they were also kind and respectful guys to work with. They were able to move furniture for me on a 2 HOUR NOTICE and then went above and beyond to help me move a few extra pieces that I originally said I would move myself but they they ended up having room for on the truck. These guys certainly go the extra mile for all of your moving needs. For anyone moving in the Austin area, I would highly recommend Right Choice Movers! They were by far the best movers I have ever done business with and made moving a painless (and dare I say fun) experience!

Outstanding job. Professional workers, punctual, careful with the furniture. When moving in even suggested layouts in the new property and helped place everything. Also helped me dispose of some bulky items. I moved many times while in the military, and often had the grab-and-dump type movers, or the big companies who damage your stuff in the warehouse rather than during the move. These guys definitely are neither. I highly recommend!

Easy. Happy. Everything from the word go was 5-Star. I had never used Thumbtack before and was extremely pleased to find Tammy and the team at Greater Austin Moving. Tammy took great care and really listened to my specific moving needs, rather than trying to fit me in to what their moving packages were. Then on moving day, the movers were early (with a courtesy call, of course), efficient, friendly and had just the right tools based on my setup call. 5-Stars across the board. I will use them in the future and recommend them to friends and family. They even took my afternoon, small-window arrival request. THANK YOU!! - Thomas K.

Pickup Movers movers were simply the best. They arrived on time with their packaging material and foreman explained me the paper work quickly then they are onto the work. All my items were treated with utmost care. They moved fragile and heavy items without any hassle. The price quoted was perfect and the delivery was on said schedule. I would use this company again.

My movers just left and requested a review as quickly as possible. I assured them that I would provide then with a 10 out of 5 star rating. Most importantly, the young men were respectful to my husband and I. I am 67 years old so I was on the young men from start to finish - making sure they were respectful of my belongings and home. They wrapped all of my furniture and assisting with packing items that were not packed upon their arrival. I did notice a small hole in the wall at the pick up address. Tight corners so I did not complain. But I did want them to know that I noticed. Other than that, my belongings arrived in great shape. I will recommend to my friend Margaret who will be moving in about 2 weeks. I informed her to request Mark and Stephen. Thanks again for your hard work. Spend your tip wisely.

THESE GUYS ROCK! They picked up the table for me from where i purchased it, stored it for two months while i closed on my house, then delivered the table very timely as soon as I called to have delivered to the new house. These guys are very proffessional, polite, and trustworthy. Pool tables also seem to require a lot of take down and set you that you have to know what you are doing, these guys do! I will not use any other table movers in the future! THANKS

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

      • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
      • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
      • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
      • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
      • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
