January of 2015 while on holidays in Houston, my wife and I decided to speak with an immigration lawyer about moving to Houston to live. I am a natural born citizen of the USA but my wife and her two boys are Argentine. Other people we know that have immigrated to the States typically have been sponsored through their work but our situation and paths were different requiring us to find a local lawyer familiar with out type of case. I found several names online and sent out requests for information. Ms. Rahgozar responded within a day and was the only response we received. To our pleasure we found Ms Rahgozar to be personable, professional and knowledgeable, she took the time to explain the whole process, all of the fees, the steps required and the pitfalls we could encounter. Upon return to Buenos Aires we began the process of gathering documents and information for the application. Every document had to be translated and certified, this included but was not limited to birth certificates, school records, marriage certificate, bank statements, character references from friends and business relations, the list goes on. Since we had a comprehensive list provided to us by Ms Rahgozar and her timely responses to our many inquires we had everything required by the time we returned to Houston the next year. Back in Houston everything went smoothly, Ms Rahgozar and her staff prepared our application and guided us through the process. Unfortunately the immigration system was slowing down for a variety of reasons but Ms Rahgozar kept us informed and reassured us that nothing was wrong, it was just the speed of government. On the day of our interview Ms Rahgozar was prompt and had a comfortable working relationship with the Immigration's Agent assigned to our case. The interview itself was a bit anticlimactic, having heard horror stories about the interviews going terribly wrong we expected the worst and were surprised at how easy it was. Since our application was spot on and Ms Rahgozar had done a good job of preparing us, the interview was smooth and effortless. Within two weeks the green cards arrived and we all celebrated. I highly recommend Ms Rahgozar and her firm, they were always professional, kept us abreast, informed and importantly there were no 'oops' moments or hidden fees. Another huge plus to us is the fact that her staff always included someone fluent in Spanish allowing my wife to discuss some of the technical legal issues in her native language and to help us insure the accurate translation and interpretation of documents. Michael West has been my family attorney for three separate cases in the past nine years. In the first one, he defended two of my Civil Air Patrol colleagues and myself against a fraudulent lawsuit brought about by two individuals that claimed we had contracted with them for rental of a facility when we clearly were publicly acknowledged that the facility was permitted to be used by the Hobby Senior Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol rent free. The culmination of that lawsuit was when the plaintiffs were unable to explain how a signature line on the purported rental document specifying a Wing Commander’s signature had been obliterated by a “cut and paste forgery” of one of my colleague’s signatures. Other witnesses testified as to the authenticity of our claims of being allowed to use the facility rent free without any obligations what-so-ever. The judgement in that case was that both sides went away and took nothing from each other but the judgment cleared my colleagues and myself of any obligation (past, present and future) to the plaintiffs. A second case was against a defendant that tried to claim that money I had loaned her was a gift when I clearly had a document that the defendant had initialed indicating that it was clearly a loan that was to be repaid by a certain date without interest at that specified time. The defendant contested that position but on a check that the defendant had cashed, it was clearly documented that the check was an “emergency loan.” The defendant tried to dispute that documentation but the judge would have none of that nonsense from the defendant and ruled in our favor. The defendant had to pay the judgment against her and despite several appeals by the defendant; the case was clearly a victory for us. A third case that involved a property dispute has just been completed and the ruling of the jury was 12-0 in favor of Michael’s client, Lucy Turoff. This was a matter of a purchase of property by my wife. The defendants in that dispute had unlawfully encroached on almost a ten foot swath of the property that they claimed was theirs by adverse possession and that they claimed to have had a fence delineating that claim in place for many years. That was proven to be a false claim as well as their claim of the proper boundary of the property. We had photographic evidence that such was not the case and all of the property surveys supported our position in the lawsuit. With all of the legal documentation supporting our position and video documentation of the tortuous interference by the defendants, we were totally confident in our attorney’s ability to have the jury trial (that the defendants insisted upon) won in our favor.
