Blast and Team did an outstanding job of installing a Cedar & Metal Roof Gazebo (Yardistry Kit). The project was fairly involved, but Blast put the extra time in to finish the job and clean up site. Will use him in the future.

Antonio and his team were excellent! I thought I knew what I wanted when we set the appointment (type of wood, just fencing no rot board, etc.) but I was mistaken after learning that the fence I was replacing had rot board. Antonio was very understanding when I added to the work order, even though his team had already started. They worked around it and came back another day with the rest of the materials, and the end result was great. The fence is very study and I feel so much better about our dogs being secured. His team left no trash, and made sure not to leave nails in the yard as I asked. I highly recommend Four Seasons for replacing fences. While I don't anticipate needing them anytime soon since the work is so sturdy, I would certain use them again on another fence.

Tomas built a 3' replacement piece for a second story iron deck fence. He was punctual and polite and did a wonderful job for a great price; not only attaching and painting the replacement piece but also painting the rest of the fence and painting some other iron fencing in the yard as well. Not a hint of overspray anywhere! It was a pleasure doing business with him.

After being extremely disappointed in the drywall and painting work done by a previous contractor, I hired Isaac Delcid to redo the previous contractor's work and then continued to use him on one project after another. Not only did he make the walls that were floated and painted by the prior contractor perfectly smooth, he astounded everyone working on my renovation project by being able to float an extremely textured room and ceiling to a perfectly smooth finish. On a Sunday, He even provided free examples of how the finished wall would look because I had a hard time believing it could be floated smooth. Later, his tile expert installed some challenging tiles in a bathroom at no charge to demonstrate that these tiles could also be installed with a perfectly smooth surface. I was amazed enough to have Isaac Delcid's crew rip out all of the tiles in three other bathrooms that were poorly done by a previous contractor and reinstall them perfectly. Well worth the money. Isaac Delcid is an extremely good communicator, generates professional proposals, is able to do the work quickly and efficiently, and never fails to impress me. I have had at least nine contractors on this project and Isaac Delcid is definitely the best in the business. I almost regret writing this positive review, because I want to keep him for my own projects only!

Job went great, I had Willy remove 1200 sqft of tile, laminate, carpet and vinyl, then install new laminate flooring on the clean slab. The whole time Willy was easy to get ahold of, communicated with us about what was going on, and did an excellent job of installing the floors. We definitely recommend him and we'll definitely use him again in the future.

Nazario and his crew did an amazing job at our house, painting, fixing the wood fence, drywall work, changing from door, installing recessed light, and changing light fixtures. They are great at everything they do. Very professional and the timing was great. We are extremely happy with the job and will keep working with him on some extra work we are planning on doing at the house in the near future. It was a pleasure working with him.

I did not hire them to do the work. I was very specific in my request and even asked for a second estimate when the first one was not for the vinyl I wanted installed. It took a bit of time to get the estimate and then it was for no avail. They were very pleasant about answering all my questions, but I wished they would have read the request in more detail. I am going to believe it is because we are still in a recovery mode from the hurricane.

Oscar of All-Pro Sevices did an amazing job installing our sod and replacing landscape timbers. His work is great, he is on time,on budget and he has fair prices too. In addition to that he was able to work around our other contractors... He is also very knowledgeable about other home and garden projects. I wish I met him sooner!

I was so pleased with the quality of the work. Once they began the job it was more complicated than expected. They came up with a new game plan and informed me fully about the needed changes. I manage a HOA that is responsible for all the iron work at 25 homes. They had no problem handling this large job. They were so friendly and respectful of all the residents that they ended up getting hired to do some smaller jobs for individual residents. Both David and Mike are really great guys and good communicators. I cannot say enough good things about them. The HOA will be hiring them next year to fix all the fencing.

Jose did a great job from start to finish! I was pleased to know that his fees included materials and that he was honest in his price quote. He repaired my wood deck and fence, after wear/tear and water damages. He was also able to do some minor welding on my privacy gate. I would recommend him again in the future.

They are an excellent fencing company! First of all the job was amazing but then the salesman came out and inspected the whole fence and if he wasn't happy with a board they came out and replaced them! If I could give six stars I would!

Cory was awesome. Worked with us to get the quote over to the insurance company, was ready to go almost the moment we got final approval from them. Got the job done within the discussed completion time, quality was great, cleanup was great. Awesome experience, all done while we were out of town with neighbor's oversight. (Note, didn't price compare as it was covered by other person's insurance. But appeared pretty reasonable. And he didn't ask for more than the quote.)

Patrick redid our cabinets in the kitchen. Not only was he timely, courteous, and knowledgeable, he was very professional. This man is an artist when it comes to the home. He did things the right way, the first time. I'm not just saying this, he's the contractor you've dreamt about. He will be fair, he will be upfront, and he will be on time. Anything we do in our home will be done by him.

After seeing the actual size of my yard, understanding what I wanted accomplished Marten gave me a firm price for the work. I increased the scope to include laying 2 pallets of sod. The crew were on time each day, cleaning up after themselves after working. Work include Roto tilling the backyard, leveling and sloping it into the front for better drainage. As work started I decided to have them remove 11' of privacy fence replacing it with 2 sections of wrought iron instead. The convenience of AGSO being able to handle the two different jobs, finishing the entire project in 3.5 days (we had heavy rain day 2) was an asset. Based on conversations with Marten I plan to have him provide quotes for additional work around the house for replacing rotten wood, painting, etc. Please give AGSO the chance to quote your project.

I hired Heath to do multiple jobs, from installation of a flagstone patio, install a fence, and drywall a garage. A real nice guy with some great design ideas. Heath took his time and did a great job. The one critique though you might have is he does not start early in the day as most contractors, so if you can overlook that and have patience for him to complete the projects you will be more than satisfied with the results. His pricing is beyond competitive.

Punctual, honest and worry free. He installed my vinyl plank flooring and my experience was good. He showed up on time for giving the estimate and doing the work. The work took longer than expected but I didn’t hear any complains or demands for more money. I had already paid him in full but he came back as promised to finish up the molding (since I ran out of it). The floors came out very good and my family likes it.

Over the years I have used many contractors but none come close to the Araz group. They initially came to remove crazy wallpaper from my ceiling. It was not a fun job. They did amazing work. Got it off and touched up and repainted my ceiling. As they were leaving they told me they could fix my horrible broken front door which 5 people had looked at and declined to fix telling me I needed an entire new one. Not only did they fix it. It lookes incredible. Instead of spending $1000+ for a new one I spent a fraction of that. I then had them do so many small jobs I needed. I needed some floor boards installed, knobs on cabinets, doors and trim painted, tile drilled into for wall gadgets, a sliding door that was too big installed where my washer and dryer are located. They did it all. They were punctual, neat and so Kind. I will use them again and again and again.

Jake’s responsiveness was SO refreshing. Unlike many contractors, he actually showed up with all tools and ready to take on the job the moment he arrived. His high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail was over the top. We will continue to request Jake on future jobs as we rebuild after Harvey and our remodeling company grows!!! We are blessed to have met such a professional craftsman and consider him part of our team!!!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much is a redwood fence per foot?

A redwood fence is a long-lasting home investment that can add beauty and major curb appeal to your home. Redwood fence installation costs are higher than those for pressure-treated pine or cedar, due to the relative scarcity of the wood. Pricing can vary for redwood fence installation costs based on regional labor rates, current prices of redwood planks, the height and linear feet of the fence, and any custom designs or features. Redwood fences, in addition to being beautiful, are naturally more resistant against bugs and rot than less hardy or dense woods. Redwood fences also generally fare well in wet or humid climates due to their natural oils — which also make them easier to maintain. Materials costs per linear foot for redwood planks can range anywhere from $6 to $20 or more, depending on grade, quality and height.

How much does it cost to put up a chain-link fence?

Chain-link fence is one of the most affordable options for adding safety and value to your home or business. The national average chain-link fence installation cost is $2,750. Chain-link fences are relatively simple for the pros to install; a fence of less than 150 linear feet can often be put up in under one day. A good rule of thumb is to add an additional workday for each additional 100 linear feet of fence to be installed.

Chain-link fence installation costs are affected by the fluctuating cost of steel, regional labor rates, the height of fence you select, and the features you select, such as a powder-coated finish. The industry standard is galvanized steel, which is rust- and corrosion-resistant. Galvanized chain-link fence installation cost, including labor and materials, is typically $12 per linear foot. For a more contemporary and elegant option, black powder-coated galvanized chain-link fence might cost approximately $15 per linear foot on average, including materials and labor. For industrial sites or businesses, 10-foot-high galvanized chain-link fences may provide additional security, but also have an added cost. A 10-foot-high chain-link fence could cost $17-$18 per linear foot, including labor and materials.

How much does it cost to install a vinyl fence?

A new fence can mean added home value, increased curb appeal, and improved home security. The national average vinyl fence installation cost is $4,600. Vinyl fences have a number of appealing qualities such as their durability, their lasting good looks (they don’t weather like wood does), their versatility, and the fact that they require little to no maintenance such as staining. Fencing companies typically charge per linear foot for vinyl fence installation. They calculate their estimates based on materials to be used, height of fence, linear feet of the proposed fence, and the accessibility of the terrain. If the workers need to level the land before work begins, your vinyl fence installation costs will probably increase. Vinyl fences are typically more expensive than wood or chain-link. For example, one company might charge $19-$22 per linear foot for a basic 6-foot vinyl privacy fence. Another company might charge $25-$35 per linear foot for standard vinyl fencing, while decorative fencing with custom detail could increase that cost to $50 per linear foot. For a 6-foot-high white vinyl privacy fence with two walk-through gates (plus demolition and disposal of the old fence), the cost of the total project could run $8,000. A 4-foot-high, 36-linear-foot white picket vinyl fence with one gate could cost $2,600.

How much does it cost to install a wood fence?

Help define your property line, protect your home and yard, and boost your curb appeal with a new wood fence. The national average for wood fence installation cost is $3,250. Wood fence installation costs will vary based on your geographic location, the type of wood you select, the height and style of wood fence you desire, and the condition of your property. Pressure-treated pine is a common and attractive choice that is usually resilient against rot and bugs. Cedar is another budget-friendly option that, although more expensive than pressure-treated pine, can be more affordable than redwood or teak. A wood fence requires maintenance to ensure its long-term health and beauty, so keep future staining and painting costs in mind when you’re calculating fence installation costs. Here are some examples of how height and material affect the approximate cost of wood fences:

  • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $15-$17 per linear foot.
  • 4-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $13-$20 per linear foot.
  • Cedar fence: $18-$25 per linear foot.
  • 6-foot-high, double-sided (meaning both sides are uniform), pressure-treated pine fence with 6x6 posts: $25 per linear foot.
  • 12-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with custom detailing: $75 per linear foot.
  • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with a custom lattice top: $30-$50 per linear foot.

How much does it cost to install a fence gate?

Adding a gate to your fence can be a practical way to provide access to a yard, work area or outdoor living space while ensuring safety and privacy. Gate installation costs will vary based on the gate material you select, the size of your gate, whether you install a fence at the same time, and any special features you’d like to add. Standard opening size for a single-wide gate is 4 feet; a double-wide gate is 8 feet. A small gate may be for decoration; a double-wide gate can be mounted on a rolling caster system to allow access for cars or wide loads. Here are some examples of average fence gate installation costs:

  • 4-foot, single-swing chain-link gate: $100 for materials and installation costs.
  • 28-foot wheeled chain-link gate on a caster system: $800-$1,000 for materials and installation costs.
  • 4-foot, single-swing wood gate: $75.
  • 8-foot double-wide wood gate: $150.
  • 4-foot white vinyl walk-through gate: $300–$400 for materials and installation costs.
  • 8-foot, double-wide white vinyl gate: about $800 for materials and installation costs.
  • White vinyl gate fence more than 8 feet wide: $1,200-$1,500 for materials and installation.
  • Arched black powder-coated aluminum pool gates: $175-$200 per gate.
