By far the best photographer and videographer in Dallas. He definitely understands that the key to a great picture or video is the angles and the lighting.

Absolutely brilliant team. Great service before and after the event. Our highlights video could not be better - we will cherish it forever. I would not be surprised to see these guys in the credits of Hollywood blockbusters in a few years - get them as your wedding videographers now before they are famous. For the amount of hours they spend planning and editing as well as the filming on the day - they are exceptional value. Could not be happier.

Finding a videographer to trust with our daughter’s wedding was a huge decision. We commissioned Jay Nuzum with Illusion Media Works for her wedding in October of 2015. We based our decision primarily on his style and quality of work, but cost also was a consideration in our decision. Jay was very professional and completed the Highlight Reel and the finished CD’s exactly when he had stated he would get each of them completed. We were nothing but pleased with what Jay was able to capture from her special day. I don't know if the Highlight Reel is included in any of his packages but if not, be sure to purchase it - he did an awesome job and it brought happy tears to our eyes watching it the first time! I highly recommend Illusion Media Works for your wedding.

Julian did an OUTSTANDING job as our wedding videographer. He captured all of the important moments and complied them into a beautiful highlight video. We also received a blue ray of our full ceremony and all of the important parts of our reception. Every time my husband and I watch it, we are touched and feel like we are reliving our special day all over again. He is professional, on time and he truly loves what he does. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a videographer. Thank you Julian, for capturing our wedding! - The Pathers

Grant was a rockstar! On our wedding day he arrived early for getting ready and stayed until the bitter end and shot our farewell ! He was easy to work with on the day of and I felt like a movie star- followed by the camera. His turn around was quick and he let us give input before releasing the final edit. The video itself is AMAZING! He really captures the mood and energy of the day and of me and my husband. Everyone I know gives glowing compliments of our video when they see it. Hire Grant NOW if you need a videographer :) You will not regret it.

When I started to look at videographers & photographers 4500Films was the first website I went to. I knew from watching one video that 4500Films was it! I had to have Mel & Cyndee photograph & take video of our wedding! From the very beginning Mel & Cyndee were amazing! My bridal pictures were an absolute blast with the two of them acting silly & everyone feeling like one big family!! I couldn't have asked for a better team. Our wedding pictures are absolutely stunning. The video is breathtakingly perfect! My husband & I couldn't be happier! We can't thank 4500Films enough for capturing ALL of the perfect moments from our big day!!

Chue filmed a very special memorial mass and he was able to do the job with a very short notice. He was calm and professional when the family was very emotional and there was conflict involved with the family at the funeral. Even under these most stressful conditions he was able to focus and complete his job. We are very grateful to have had the opportunity to have him film the Mass.

Slaton helped us out on short notice. We had a Managing Director retire and had several events planned to follow the emotion and commaraderie that this Managing Director had with his employees. Slaton was able to capture the employees heartfelt emotions. This was one of our best retirement ceremonies to date. I highly recommend Slaton!

My wife and I got married on 11.03.12. J&J did a FANTASTIC job on our wedding video. They were on time; they were courteous and great to work with. They had multiple HD cameras and captured lots of moments that we were not able to see or enjoy during the event, which makes our video that much more valuable to us. A short time after the ceremony they contacted us and asked us if we had any song suggestions which we sent to them and they used perfectly. We would not hesitate to use them again and we would strongly recommend them to anyone that might need a videographer for any occasion. GREAT job guys!! Look forward to using you all again as our children start to have events in their lives.

What can I say about Darren! Let me think...he is "Awesome!" I previously had a retirement party and wanted a "music video" for the event! The music video was the hit of the party! He was personable and catered to all my needs! I truly will recommend him to EVERYONE & if I have another event, he will definitely be requested. Great customer service, a terrific videographer and a super-duper "people" person! Grab him before he gets overbooked! Your loss if you don't hire him for your next event!

When I first met Rachel I knew right off the bat that she was going to be our (my wife I) wedding videographer. We expressed our needs/requests for the wedding video and Rachel went above and beyond. Anyone who has been or is married knows that planning your wedding can be a strenuous task mentally and physically, but Rachel helped alleviate most of the stress. Theres' an old adage that says 'you get what you pay for', and I can tell you that never before have I felt like I got every pennies' (plus more) worth out of Rachels videography. Rachel is a tedious, patient, hardworking, and most of all genuine videographer who takes pride and passion in her profession to the next level. On our wedding day Rachel was the first person to arrive and the last person to leave. Rachel was kind enough to even take last minute requests from my wife and I and she never complained, she only responded "its your wedding day, I am here to serve you." Rachel got every moment in our wedding that we could have wished for recorded to perfection. Rachel is not just a 'videographer', she can literally do all things wedding related, she helped arrange/consult and give insight in regards to design strategy, angles of guest perception, and even cut our wedding cake. Most wedding videographers have a flat rate, but Rachel only charges you for the services she provides.Once the wedding was over she gives you daily and weekly updates in regards to your video as its being finalized. After she finalizes your wedding video and approves it, she provides dvd's and USB access, along side your own personal video site link so that you have unlimited access to your happily ever after moment forever. Rachel is the best, and they say.."chose the best, or chose nothing." Her dedication, attention to detail, quality, convenience, efficiency, and reliability are unmatched. Here is the video link to our wedding. https://vimeo.com/151580821 The video speaks volumes for itself. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact her or myself if you need more details.

Brady Clayton is a 5-star individual, both as a videographer and as a person! When we watched the videos he made before deciding to have him shoot our wedding, we knew within just a few moments that we wanted him to capture our special day and we are so glad we made that decision! The wedding video he made for my husband and I took our breath away and he was so easy to work with from start to finish, and he always got back to our questions really quickly. He was very attentive to our video wishes as a couple, very professional on our wedding day and he's hands down the funniest guy we've ever met, so it's very easy to just relax and be yourself when he's around. I cannot recommend him highly enough as a videographer! Hire him, you won't regret it at all!!!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
