Introduction: I have worked in the field of human services for over 30 years. My primary focus has been helping people who are struggling to stop chemical use, abuse or dependency. It is just as important to help family members and/or significant others to understand their treatment needs and the resources available to them.
Since coming to Texas in 1996, I have developed and implemented two intensive outpatient programs in Dallas, TX. From those experiences, I was able to gain not only good clinical skills, but also the ability to discern root problems and develop plans of action to avoid future relapse. A good aftercare program is essential to help recovering people "quit and stay quit."
To obtain this goal, good screening, assessment, treatment planning and aftercare support systems are essential. These also help maintain total abstinence from illegal drugs and non-prescribed medications. I have had the opportunity to work in different program settings and have had various job titles. My goal for the future is to continue utilizing my skills, experience and abilities to help people help themselves.
