I've hired Pat as the copy editor for two major literary projects so far: a nonfiction writing resource / anthology and a middle grade collaborative novel. Both projects involved editing a variety of writing styles (poetry, narrative essay, reference book, vignette, flash fiction, etc.) and voices from more than 20 authors, and Pat did a fabulous job intuitively understanding when to suggest an edit and when to allow the author's voice or literary style to trump standard editing rules. Her background as a bilingual speaker makes her particularly insightful when faced with a tricky grammatical dilemma. Her approach is straight-forward and positive, and her work is impeccable. Do yourself a favor and don't rush an editing job with the person who promises the fastest turnaround; go with quality and trust Pat with her watchful eye and two vigilant passes over your work for the very best end product. That said, she always delivers quickly, and I feel good knowing that she's taken the time to stop over every word and every punctuation mark to make sure they work they way they should. I would highly recommend her as a copy editor, and I can also see that her developmental and line editing skills are strong, if that's what you need. As copy editor, she refrains from that level of feedback, but occasionally pipes up when a passages seems particularly awkward, and her thoughts are always spot on.
